It is good for formal or casual occasion - spring dress, easter dress or wedding guest dress. This maxi is suitable for all of them. If you are around 5'4" and 130 lb, this dress is too long for you. You probably have to cut about 4 inches to make it around your ankle level. It is worthy to note that everyone's body shape is different, so this is just a reference, not an absolute answer. If you are more curvy shape, you might not have to cut that much because your curve can pull up the dress a little bit more. On the other hand, if your body is more on the flat side, then you might have to cut more inches. In addition, it depends on how long you want the dress to be. Some people like it one inch above the ground, and some might like it above the ankle. You definitely have to measure it, pin it and wear it again before you make any alteration. Love how the dress fits me. It's so comfortable. It's very long comes up to my ankles. Which is no problem since I'm 5'9. I haven't washed it yet. I did get a XL at first but it was too big. I did downsize to a Lg and it fit me perfect.

This dress was super comfy. I appreciated the stretchy material on it. The design is decent as well. I wouldn't wear this to a party or anything like that but it's nice for day to day use.
