I purchased a very firm mattress knowing if i need more cushion i could add a topper . you can always make a mattress softer but not firmer . So the 1.5" pad seemed to fit the bill to add just enough cushion to keep joints from getting sore . There was 0 smell came to life quick and slept great . Con this does nothing for cooling . I bought this as an experiment to determine if I needed a softer bed in order to recover from a horrible months long struggle with sciatic pain. It worked. It gave me just enough relief to get a solid night's sleep. I'm a side sleeper and my pain triggers were getting a little worse. I got to a point where I wasn't sleeping very good at all. I had to sleep in a very specific position with a leg pillow in order to fall asleep. I no longer struggle to get comfortable enough to sleep and I think the better sleep is helping me recover. I'm not there yet but getting a little better every day. I wouldn't recommend this to a back or stomach sleeper. I can kinda feel it throwing my back out of alignment when laying on my back. But everyone is different. So maybe it'll work for u. I'm light and boney (5'11" and only 160lbs). I got the full bed size one and it fit perfectly. Also got the 1.5" one. I agree w/those that think this is a firmer memory foam. For me, I think it's for the better. I had a memory foam topper when my sciatic pain started and threw it out because I thought it was the main culprit. I wish I hadn't but from memory, this feels firmer. And also not as hot. I didn't smell any nasty chemical smells and slept on it only about 4 hours after opening it. Cheers. Hope this review helped. ... show more

What a difference, we had a new mattress that was too firm and we bought this to soften it up and it worked great. Beware you will sink into the memory foam but it is amazing. It's almost too soft... No smell fluffed up in 20 maybe 30 minutes before we added it's sheets, all these people saying it take 48 hours I don't get mine was ready for a nap within the hour. ... show more

Pretty comfortable. Smells kind of funny but I guess that comes with the material. I only expected as much as its price so it served purpose. One thing however is that it can tear if you try to pull it too hard or yank it out of its packagking. Cover helps.
