I now always will get a metal bed frame and just a mattress with no box spring. But I am taller and like taller beds to get into. I got the 18 inch bed frame and it is 18 inches. I like the black steel and it looks sturdy as well. I did NOT take the backing off of the tape (to keep the mattress from sliding). I was going to try it without first then possibly do it but my mattress slides very minimally (like an inch only at times in which I just push the mattress over an inch then-keep in mind my mattress slid more no more in the past with a box spring so no biggie- and I could use the tape and I assume it would prevent all sliding so….that’s my choice not to use it as I don’t think in my case it’s necessary-which is GREAT!!). I have the room if needed to store things under my frame but I’d rather not as I’m a minimalist and just really like the look of a tall bed with nothing under it. So if dies what I want it to do perfectly. And if I need to use the tape or store things, I can. I’m very satisfied with this purchase when it comes to quality and price. ... show more

Omg, the space that this thing provide for storage is amazing. Like other reviews I should tell you that yes, the 18" is from the floor to the top of the structure, but do not be fooled, you can fit almost everything. I'm a modest hoarder so this has been super convenient. I can store my suitcases, my big plastic home Depot boxes and even my will to live (although that doesn't take much space anyway). During the hurricane it served well, since I was able to place my 3-seat sofa, along with small kitchen appliances and a box of books. So trust me, it is really heavy duty. The only con that I have found so far is that to assemble the structure I had to use a hammer, since one of the 'thingys' didn't fit in the other 'thingy' (just like many other reviews I read). But I would definitely buy this again . ... show more

Preface by saying I’m a middle-aged woman (ha) and had this unboxed and assembled by myself this is probably about 50 minutes. One lil’ hiccup (see all photos except last two, which show finished setup and the instructional booklet and hardware that it comes with): basically the two ends of the bed—head and foot—have on each side of the frame “male and female” parts where one slides into the other THEN screws are placed in. The “male” part on both sides was NOT going to fit…when I placed them together, it was like both ends were same-size. I had to use pliers (or wrench, whatever it is called) and squeeze on the “male” part with all my might for both sides and luckily I could THEN slide it into the “female” part. This was a bit of struggle and annoying, but I did it and am so glad I didn’t just return it. ... show more

The product was very well packaged and the instructions are exemplary and commendable. All the items were present, installation was a breeze. There was no visible flaw or imperfections with the parts, which is somewhat rare these days. All the parts fitted together easily and perfectly as you would expect of a European made product, which this is not. The frame is sturdy and did not wobble. I have not put anything in storage under the bed yet but you can see that the space is exactly as described. Absolutely a 5-star product. Kudos to the manufacturer and the designer. I did not bother using the self-adhesive strips that are supposed to hold the mattress in place however. I did not like that idea and didn't think it would be necessary or would work well. I put all the sticky strips face down. I use a memory foam mattress on top and the mattress stays in place, no issue of anything moving or shifting. ... show more

Literally not even five minutes after laying out all the pieces, the bed frame was set. A dream bed with an absolutely fair price. Wanted to wait a while and see if it sets or something negative happens. Nothing bad to report at all and it still makes no sound. There are adhesive strips for the mattress but it does not do much.
