    • Excellent book for the very young beginning trumpeter!
This book is ideal for very young people starting to play the trumpet. It's not aimed at the typical 3rd or 4th-grade beginner -- this is aimed at the 5 or 6 or 7 year old beginner. I know that many trumpet teachers don't work with students that young, but in my over 50 years teaching private music lessons, I decide whether to start working with a very young beginner based on how much they have been pestering their parents to learn to play. If they mention it once or twice, I'll suggest they wait. But if the child has brought the subject up again and again and is very persistent then I'll start them at any age as long as they can hold the trumpet up. And this book is ideal for these young beginners -- the introduction of new notes and notation concepts is very gradual, with lots of pictures on each page and large print to make it easy for young eyes to absorb the material. ... show more

Granddaughter started learning trumpet with me when I visited recently. We will do remote lessons. Graphics are kid-friendly, as advertised. Looking forward to exposing her to learning about music!
