  • 10/10 RECOMMEND!! (but maybe not if you're tall)
This tent is WONDERFUL! For the price, I am blown away by the quality. You do not need to spend $200+ on a Big Agnes. I used this tent 10+ times this summer, several times in rain storms, and never once had water leakage. I did purchase the Bessport footprint and use that well (would recommend to protect the bottom of the tent and prolong its life), but I am confident this tent would be waterproof even without the footprint. The setup could not be easier. One of my favorite things about this tent is its breathability- you can roll the fly completely up to allow maximum airflow, or zipper it down to insulate for colder weather camping. The design is phenomenal. All zippers run smoothly. There is no gear loft overhead, but there are four pockets located inside at each corner of the tent, along with good-sized vestibules for gear storage directly under the fly when you stake it out. It is not the smallest or lightest tent you'll find, but it is manageable for backpacking. The only thing I would change: make it longer. I'm 5'8", and when I slept with my 40L Deuter backpack above my head, my feet were almost touching the bottom. This was not a real issue for me but may be for someone who is any taller than I am. There isn't really room to store a pack next to you while you sleep, but a taller person could store a backpack outside (under the fly, in the vestibule). Overall, a fantastic purchase- I will use this tent for many years to come! **update: lol I was a gear newbie when I wrote that^ This tent is great but is super heavy (like 5+ pounds). Definitely not for long backpacking trips. Great for car camping though! ... show more

  • Absolute Value For Money
Color: 1P-Dark Green
For a long time I had been looking for a solo tent which should tick these boxes: light weight; of the right size; with good quality and design. I thought I would have to pay US$200 upward to have such qualities in such a tent. And I got these in the Bessport 1, for much less. The tent weighs about 5 lbs out of the box. That seems heavy considering the weight of solo tents on the market these days. It is heavy for 'good' reasons: the included pegs were made of iron - they weigh 1 lb. On the other hand the tent is made of traditional PU coated polyester fabrics. These are heavier compared with, for example, sylnylon. I am not disapppointed by the fabrics, though. They are obviously more sturdy than sylnylon. This is obvious in the case of the tent floor. Having said all these I would say that the tent is well built with good quality. In order to reduce weight many solo tents on the market skim on size. The Ferrino Nemisi solo tent I own is a typical example. It measures 70 cm (27.5") at the head end and 50 cm (19,6") at the foot end. I can barely roll when I sleep in there. My head nearly scratch the roof when I sit up as the maximum height of this tent is 90 cm (35.4"). I am not really that big - 5'9". When I am in there there is no room for my pack or my boots. My Bessport solo on the other hand provides a lot more room in comparison, good enough for me and my gear. One interesting feature of the tent is the very tall "skirt" - the low wall of non-mesh fabric which surrounds the floor from the ground up. It is high - nearly 2' from the ground up. It is nearly up to my shoulders when I am sitting inside. This may be thought of as a 4 season feature - the skirt prevents drafts from coming in in winter time. On the other hand, however, this could be a barrier of good ventilation in summer. I had seen a review of this tent on YouTube. The reviewer conducted a rain test on this tent and subsequently observed that it leaked, as some parts of it were not properly seam sealed or taped. Hence he advised people not to buy this tent. I have not rain tested this tent. Neither have I used it in rain. Having seen this review, however, I did check the fly of my own Bessport tent, very meticulously. I can say that all the seams there are properly taped. And I see no reason why and how it could leak, ever. I highly recommend this tent to anyone who looks for a well made, good quality and fully functional tent. It is absolutely value for money. ... show more

  • A great tent for the right purpose
Color: 2P-Dark Green
I have just set this tent up and have not camped in it yet, but my first impression is very positive. This tent is too heavy to take on a long hike and too small if you are car camping and could afford the extra weight. But that compromise is perfect for my purposes. The poles seem solid and the material appears to be sturdy and waterproof (I hope). It will sleep two men, but you won't hang out when you're not sleeping. Setup was straight forward and I am very happy for now with the purchase. ... show more
