I own a lot of Bessey clamps. I think they are the gold standard. This is a nice clamp with the exception of one fatal flaw...the crank arm that reels in the slack. It comes with the crank handle disassembled from the reel. I understand, it makes for easier packaging and allows the user to configure it for left or right hand use, HOWEVER, it's flimsy plastic. They provide essentially a drywall screw to attach it into a square recess. No matter how careful, the screw strips out easily. Everything else is made well. Why skimp on a plastic screw connection? The reel is difficult to roll up because it turns hard and the crank handle is much too short to get any leverage. When I finally got the strap around the large frame I was making, it clamped down well. However, when it came time to reel in the strap, the handle didn't have enough leverage and was so flimsy I thought it was going to break off. The primary clamp handle is great. The reel handle should be longer and made of steel, or at least have a machine screw connection, not a drywall screw into plastic. Sadly, I had to return it. Bessey, please beef up your reel handle materials and make it longer. It does not live up to your usual level of quality and design. ... show more

I have used a variety of Bessey clamps in my shop and always happy with the results. This clamp is great for 4-sided boxes and frames, adjusting to odd dimensions and still providing equal pressure on the joints. I usually use two clamps for each box.
