  • Beware of Kellards counterfeits!
I use A LOT of these in my business. I will purchase up to 75 a year. I have found the failure rate with this item to be at least 25% if not more. It turns out that Kellards appears to be selling a counterfeit item. Genuine Bescor MP-101's will ship with a "Bescor" label on the box. These do not have that. For the same price, nearly as fast shipping, and a genuine product I use B&H photo. I have included a photo of the counterfeit on the left and genuine on the right. ... show more

  • Bescor MP101 Video Motorized Pan Head With Sony A6500 4K Video Rig
The media could not be loaded. Bescor MP101 Video Motorized Pan Head With Sony A6500 4K Video Rig What can I say, But this Bescor MP101 handled the weight of my Sony A6500 4k video rig with no problems I have it all mounted on a PROAIM Astra Professional 12 foot camera crane/jib, It only took about 45lbs of weight to perfectly balance my 12 foot camera crane/jib. The motors are super quiet, and with it being powered by 4 AA Batteries it makes it an ideal setup for shooting videos on locations, The pans and tilts are super smooth, and makes my videos look really great and cinematic. This is way better then those noisy super expensive other pan and tilt heads. I am super happy with my purchase of the Bescor MP101 Video Motorized Pan Head, and in fact. I bought a second one to use on my 36 inch slider. ... show more

  • Does the job OK!
This is the third one of these I have purchased. Use them at our church to move the cameras for our Live Stream. Units do what we need, though not perfectly. The remotes are NOT precise so it does take some back and forth to get the desired location established. However in our situation with one person managing the entire live stream broadcast, being able to move a camera remotely is very helpful. As long as you are not looking for a instant, precise adjustment, this device will be fine. Beware that it does not come with a AC Power Adaptor so had to order that separately. It will work with four AA batteries however. ... show more

  • I was very pleased with the product - it was perfect for using ...
I have had this pan head for about 2.5 years, but it has only seen light use (probably under 20 total uses). For the price, I was very pleased with the product - it was perfect for using on a crane (I bought the extension cable for the remote) and took my videos to a new level of smoothness. It is definitely a legitimate complaint about the speed - too slow for many applications, though I learned to live with it. The remote does feel much cheaper than the rest of the product, and I suspect that it is what has failed on me today, causing me to write this review as a cautionary measure to those who might purchase this product. While functioning, I would rate it a 4-star product, maybe even a 4.5 (cheap remote and slow speed keeping it from 5-star rating), but based on my limited number of uses and extreme care when using it (have kept it in packaging), I have to ding it to a 3. I am not sure if it is the unit or remote that has failed (it no longer moves up or down, left-right is fine), but for either one to fail with the limited use I gave this product, I am not terribly pleased. I suspect the remote as the culprit for 2 reasons: #1, it IS a very cheap piece of plastic, very lightweight and not on par with the head. #2, it can be yours for the low price of forty bucks. If it was ten bucks, you could buy it and keep on smiling, but for it to be forty bucks means that they know that you will need to replace it and are trying to make money off of a bad product. That is a bit unethical to me (I don't use that word lightly), and I really would like to rate it a 1 or 2 for that alone, but because it has been a very useful product for me at a VERY good price point, I feel comfortable with a 3 rating. If I had used this thing hard for a week or 2 and it gave out (which could be very possible for someone, hence my warning), it would definitely be a 1-star product. The remote (whether or not it is faulty - which remains to be seen as I probably grudgingly order one) should not be over a third of the cost of the product. ... show more

  • Ditch the batteries and go lite on your cam weights
We are using this for remote viewing and filming of "West Goast Discoveries" a new TV series on the Discovery Channel. the unit can be mounted in the most insane places and it's ability to get superb angle shots make it a very valuable piece of equipment. Ditch the batteries and pick up a power supply for it. We found one for $6.00 and rewired a 75 ft lead of extension wire to get us where we need to remotely operate the 4K camera. Go lite on your camera for absolutely smooth movement. You won't be disappointed with its ability! ... show more

  • Indespensible for on camera video and camera shoots.
Sometimes your the only person producing a shoot and framing the right shot can be challenging in that type of situation that's where this Pan Head can make all the difference at least for me that is. Because its motorized and comes with a wired remote you can pan and tilt your camera, smartphone (some take fantastic photos and video) or in my case camcorder, you can position your lens where you need to direct it perfectly. Do your self a favor like I did and get yourself one of these also Bescor Motorized Pan Head 20' Extension Cord for extended range heck, they even have a 50" for even more range! One more thing I have owned this for 3 years now and I'm just getting around to making a review so that should tell you something about the quality. ... show more
