The lunchbox holds up well. It's durable, and the lid makes a reliable seal. It is a little difficult to remove the lid. With the release valve open, I still have to press it against my body to pry it open, but that's the trade-off of having an excellent seal. The paint does flake off over time with everyday use. Putting in the dishwasher would probably ruin the paint faster, so I always hand-wash it. I don't mind the paint too much; fortunately, it's only painted on the outside, and unpainted on the inside. The divider is a nice touch; it keeps dry items separated. Liquids can still mix between compartments, but it's not a big deal for me. It's a good quality, stainless steel, airtight lunchbox.

I never write reviews but here goes. I feel like Bentgo needs me to make their stuff better. Yes, it's leak proof, and yes, it is microwaveable. Microwaveable in that it doesn't explode the microwave when you put the metal container in. But I just heated up a can of soup in the container for 9 minutes in the microwave and it's still luke warm. And, as others have said, the top is very difficult to remove, and end up spilling food on yourself or the counter, or at the very least, on your hands. I've had similar frustrations with other Bentgo products. Feels like they have good ideas, but they must not have any actual user testing.

This is the third Bentgo box I've tried in my mission to find a lunchbox for my son and his summer adventures. The first one I got was the Chill and while I like the integrated icepack and overall functionality, it just wasn't big enough for my 9 yo's lunch needs. Next I tried the Modern, which looks great and packs a decent amount of food, but it leaked easily and the exterior dimensions were quite large. This one is almost perfect. It's got a good interior capacity, and the moveable divider makes it easy to pack one big item, two medium, or anything in between. The divider doesn't make it leak-proof inside, from one compartment to another, but the lid seals the whole thing with a surprisingly tight seal. My only real problem is that the divider is not secured in the container, so it may shift around if the contents are heavy and jostled. While the container is not insulated, I found a cheap insulated bag that can also fit an ice pack when needed, and it fits perfectly. What I'm particularly keen on is the fact that it is metal and yet microwavable. That might not be something my son needs now, but maybe in the future it'll be useful for him. And it's very useful for me, which is why I'm keeping this one for myself, and probably ordering a couple more for the family.

I have tried quite a couple of different bento lunch boxes and none have come close to what the BentGo MicroSteel Lunch Box offers! It's slim enough to pack into most insulated lunch boxes. The metal material is as thin as possible while providing great heat or cold transfer from whatever you are storing or heating with. It's super easy to clean with the removal divider. It allows for adjustment of the compartment spaces due to the moveable divider. It prevent leaking from one section to another due to the shape of the divider. And it does a great job of sealing out any moisture! If that is not enough, their customer support team is great. I have asked a question and on the next day they have provided me with great feedback. As a contractor who is mostly eating in his truck, I really appreciate the attention to detail and quality in keeping my food fresh and in the temperature I hope for. I recommend their portable utensils to complement the lunch box.

Nice but gets hot on the outside more than the inside. So careful when handling. I’ll keep it because it’s better than using plastic. Just gotta learn how to tweak it when warming food.

This is a great food container, it’s versatile because of its size, and the insert can be used to stabilize anything that might roll around during transport. The microwave-ability of this thing is great. Keep in mind it may get really hot, even after a short time reheating. The paint is very very delicate on this thing, and is prone to scratches, even against very soft objects. I’d recommend hand washing it to prevent excessive paint loss. Actually, I wish there was a paint free version of this.
