I selected the POLIWELL Bench Vise to replace a small bench vise that I wore out by using it for bigger jobs than it was designed for. I suspect the features this vise offers will be sufficient when used by the typical homeowner or handyman for the occasion where a medium sized vise is called for. This is a great addition for the workbench. It is fully featured, well made, and high-grade cast steel, which should reduce the possibility of cracking or breaking. Pros: I like the quick release button feature to quickly position and clamp, eliminating the need to rotate the vise bolt which is slow and time consuming. I like that it has two installation methods, which can be fixed on the desktop with screws or directly clamped on the workbench. I will be using the clamp because I like the potability option. The 360 °swivel base is great for different orientation work requirements. Cons: The manufacturer calls this a “heavy duty” vise but at 3.3” it works and looks like medium duty to me. The rotation feature is a little tight but may free up after time and use.
