This product works as advertised. I bought it to see what gel coat was all about, having struggled with weak nails my whole life. So far, I have found this system to be very effective. It is 100x better than regular nail polish. It is like a baked on shell. It stays put remarkably well, considering I work with my hands a lot and I’m a regular lap swimmer who occasionally bangs my fingers into the hard plastic lane lines! First, you must prep your nails per the very clear instructions. Several people commented that the polish peeled right off. This is probably because they did not buff the surface of the nail with the 180/ fine grit side of the nail file. Without buffing/ roughing up the nail surface, the product will not bond. Second, it helps to slightly roll your fingers left to right while under the UV light. This insures a more even curing. Also, do your thumb separately for the same reason. Third, and this is the most challenging part, try to keep from getting the color (2nd coat) on your cuticles. I found that the base coat and top coat apply much more easily than the color coat, which was thicker and harder to spread in a light and even fashion. I am working on this skill! Lastly, removal is darned near impossible! I was not prepared for that. It will not come off with acetone, regardless of all those “wrap your fingers in foil over acetone-soaked cotton balls” tutorials. It does not work, and it is incredibly messy and tedious. Fortunately, I found a YouTube explaining how to remove gel coat. Use the 100 grit/ rough side of the file to break through the material and lightly sand it off. Then clean with acetone, buff, and reapply. I replace it every 2-3 weeks, mostly because of minor chips.

I love it! I followed the instructions and the gel polish went on super smooth and easy. Lasted through a week at the beach and kept going strong. If you've never used gel polish this is a great place to start. Word of warning, removing it is not easy. Removing any gel polish, especially from your toes isn't easy so make sure you know how to remove it before putting it on.

First picture is my mothers finger after having the Beetles gel polish on for one day. Never had any previous issues with any nail polish, dip powder, acrylic powder, etc. Second and third picture are my fingertips PEELING OFF a week after applying a full set with the Beetles gel glue, and Beetles gel polish. I have worn acrylic nails with gel for YEARS. Never in my life have I had a reaction to any nail product but this product has not only ruined my skin and nails but also my moms. I thought originally that I was allergic to what was inside the Beetles nail glue because the reaction did not start until after I applied the gel nail extensions they have available for purchase. I decided to take a break from long nails due to damage (which I now know was caused by the glue) and only apply gel polish until they were healthier. The gel polish did the same thing! My fingers felt numb, they peeled in a way I have never seen before, they were raw, and inflamed constantly. But still, I just thought I was having an allergic reaction and I was the issue. My mom asked if she could borrow my nail equipment to do her nails before a try. I have it to her and the next day her nails were tingling, burning and raw. everyone that I have allowed to use this product has had this reaction. DO NOT PURCHASE! It has been the worst experience of my life and 6 months later I am still dealing with peeling and pain in my fingers/cuticles and terrible nail health. If I could go back and not spend $100 on this company I would. If someone from Beetles can reach out and find a way to refund the money I spent on this product and help to stop this from happening to anyone else I would be greatly appreciated. If you have also experienced these issues with this product, I am so very sorry. I would not wish this on anyone.
