This was a present for my partner when she went to a girls night. The idea was they could all pick their colors and do their nails and have fun with it. There's a lot of colors to pick from and everyone picked a color they were happy with, but... it wasn't very simple to figure out and they gave up on it in the moment. Later on at home she tried again and putting in a lot more mental energy to figure it out she was able to figure it out. In the end, however, she was somewhat disappointed because it takes a lot more work for just a simple color compared to more traditional nail polish. Sure, it could do fancy designs, but getting enough practice at that to make it look good would mean going weeks (months?) with badly done nails. Her conclusion is that fancy gel nails are better left to a professional than her trying to do it herself. As far as the contents, she was very happy with the variety of colors and extra supplies for a bigger range of styles. The accessories she said were all cheap and not worth bothering over. The UV curing lamp was weak and took about twice as long as it said in the instructions to cure, though admittedly that may be a case of user error/lack of experience. Overall, it's still a good value for the money, if you're into it. Just... not for us, but that's not the product's fault.

OVERALL NOTES (individual color notes below this): Bottles are tiny and are dominos or Weeble Wobbles that DO fall down. Line 6 of them up and play nail polish bowling with a single finger nail. It made it annoying to line up all of the polish bottles and test them all with the nail sticks like I always do, and I did that on a solid wood surface. My workspace is always covered by those dentist bibs or paper towels and the bottles fell over so many times! I was glad to get them into my polish bins and no longer be irritated. But I know when I go to use them again my frustration will return. The stickers are cute and very 70s. There is one sheet of generic flowers as well as another sheet with daisies. Then, there are two sheets with both silver and gold floral stickers. Bottles are also the tiniest Beetles bottles I’ve ordered. Beetles was my first into to gel polish when the covid shutdown happened. I’ve loved them ever since. But be aware how much polish is required for a full set. The base and top coats and other bonus bottles are larger than the bottles of color, which is wonderful and not typical, so points to Beetles for that. Self leveling is perfect. Minimal effort required. Coats of color varies dependent on whether it’s a jelly coating color (details included below). No offensive odor like some other brands. This set also comes with a lamp and a very inclusive kit. The nail lamp is corded and you’d do better getting a cordless and higher wattage lamp. They are all over Amazon and easy to find, including from Beetles. The kit includes a few things I actually don’t already own, including a scraping tool that has a cuticle tool on the other end. You also get 10 foils with pads already attached for polish soaking removal. And then there is a decently-sized cuticle oil bottle, which again, is something I’ve never seen included in these sets. There is a magnet stick included for the magnetic cat eye polish as well as many other pedicure and manicure tools and goodies and stickers and decals, all of which were documented in the Amazon listing. INDIVIDUAL COLOR NOTES: TS015L is a very silvery cat eye polish. I’m a big fan of using cat eye polish without the magnet but this one just looks like a plain silver top coat. But with the magnet (included), it’s actually really easy to do multiple parallel cat eye lines, to the point where I’m not sure if I’ve ever had a magnetic polish be this responsive. It all goes toward the magnet and almost everything that doesn’t go disappears. The bar magnet works much better than the round. Nc741 is a super solid blue and if you want, you can get away with a single coat. Nc742 works after two coats. Nice deep blue. Not dark enough to be called navy. Nc743 is the darkest of racing greens. 2 coats is fine. It’s very dark. Nc744 is one of those colors where it’s jelly (translucent, not transparent) polish with the first one or two coats, but becomes pretty solid on coat three and fully opaque on the fourth coat. It’s a deep emerald green. Nc745 is baby poop meets army green. Needs three coats. Nc746 only requires two coats. Beautiful shade of gray-green-blue. Nc747 is a peacock blue and also only requires 2 coats. Nc749 is a robin’s egg blue. 2 coats. NC750 is a pastel mint green. 2 coats. Nc751 is a one-coat-only polish. Super pigmented. It’s the palest of yellows. Nc752 is an orange cantaloupe color and it requires 3 coats to be solid as pigment is lacking. Nc753 is a slightly darker version of 762 and also requires 3 coats for full coverage. Nc754 is a pumpkin orange and it’s beautiful. 2 coats is perfect. Nc755 is an almost-chocolate brown. Requires 3 coats. Nc756 is the color of coffee with just a splash of milk (not creamer). 2 coats is again sufficient. Nc757 is the same color as taupe pantyhose from the 1980s. 2 coats works. Nc758 is the pink version of 757. If you are also a child of the 1980s, you’ll remember your dentist using many things that are this color. Nc759 is a pure white. It’s fine. 2 coats works. Nc760 is the palest of pinks. Very pretty and reminiscent of Easter. 2 coats is fine. Nc761 looks like somewhat like bubble gum. Not as dentist-like as 758. Again, 2 coats is manageable but 3 coats is better. Nc762 is true bubble gum, like right out of the wrapper. Or Pepto. However you relate. Another one where 2 coats is fine. Nc763 is super Barbie pink. One coat is actually enough, but two coats was reassuring for me. It’s heavily pigmented and probably works for nail art. LOVE. Nc764 is HOT pink and so sexy, especially in the summer when my hands are tan. I tend to save colors like these for end of summer. 2 coats. Hands down my favorite of the bunch and wish they sold this one separately. Nc765 is an electric coral and I’m so in love, and it’s #2 in my list of top choices in this selection. Another perfect color for late summer. 1 coat actually works but 2 coats is obviously better. Nc766 is an orange into red. Like most others, 2 coats works. Nc767 is pure red. 2 coats is fine. Nc768 is wine-burgundy-brown. Again, 2 coats is fine. Nc769 is a perfect black. Much like the 759 (white) it works for base coats for cat eye gel colors. Nc770 is a lovely grape but requires 3 coats for total coverage. Nc771 is a pure lilac, and super pigmented to the point where this is another where one coat works. Nc772 is lilac with pink added. 2 coats required. Nc775 is 771 and 772 mixed together with gray added. Yet another where you can get away with one coat because of how heavily pigmented it is.

This gel polish kit gives you a lot to work with in one box, especially if you are just getting into at-home gel nails. The color range is the biggest strength because there are enough neutrals, brights, darker shades, and special finishes to play with different looks without buying separate bottles right away. The polish applies smoothly and self-levels well, though some lighter or sheerer shades need extra coats for full coverage. I like that the kit includes the lamp, base and top coats, cat eye options, nail art pieces, and basic tools, so it feels like a complete starter setup. The small bottles can be annoying because they tip over easily and will not last forever, and the included lamp is fine for starting out but not as strong as a larger standalone lamp. Overall, it is a fun, useful beginner-friendly kit with lots of variety, but it works best for someone willing to spend time learning the process.
