I had acrylic nails for five years and took a break. Not really wanting to go back to appointments having to sit there. I saw YouTube video about this product and thought that would be perfect. I bought the set that included the LED light which actually does CURE the product and the LED nail polishes. I was very happy with that because I had bought a bigger unit that didn’t seem to work, so I was a little nervous The material is very hard in the jar. I just took out the tiniest bit of the clear and warmed it in my palm and then applied it to my nail and pressed it out. It’s very important. To use BASECOAT, otherwise your new nail just pops off. If that does happen to you just use the LED BASECOAT to glue the nail back on it with the LED light. Make sure you get enough to coat the inside of the nail and the new fingernail, wipe up the excess and cure it. A couple things about the basecoat. It’s it cures sticky, so it is not the same as the topcoat. The acrylic nail set that came with the kit covers your whole nail bed. It’s not extensions and then you apply this product over the top. It’s a different way to do your nails and I didn’t use those. I did try to use them for shaping. But the tool that comes with a kit works a lot better. Keep your start thin. I did get a couple nails too thick. It’s difficult to file down. So I started putting it on really thin. And building to get the shape I was happy with. I decided to start out a little bit shorter than I initially thought. It just didn’t look right, because I went from not having nails for a long time to doing this. The product is a little difficult to create an extension out of because if you place something to hold it while you press it out it and then when you take that away it it sticks to it, so go slow, take your time build up the nail the way you want it super thin and make sure you do your BASECOAT first. The file that comes with the set is ROUGH & curved and it works well. You can shape this product. I did buy an electric drill style file machine from Amazon(I recommend this, because it’s affordable and saved my nail experience): Electric Nail Drill, Urbuti 35000RPM Professional Nail Drill Machine, Portable Rechargeable File Machine Set for Acrylic Gel Nails, Manicure Pedicure Tools for Home and Salon Use(White) Also, if you don’t have any nail buffers at home, you might want to get some, because when you file it is rough and finish needs to be smooth. It the kit comes with the coarse nail file and the two shaping tools. A silicone paddle one that’s good for like creating crisp edges at your cuticles and you probably could use it under the nail to get a clean edge but it didn’t really work for me. That way I just used it on the cuticle edge. Take your time to do this it took me a couple days because I had to order the shaping machine and keep your nails thin, because you won’t be happy if they’re too too thick, they’ll just look clunky and awkward. And it really is tough stuff, so once you get it on there, it requires effort to reduce by filing. I’m looking forward to them growing out and doing FILL & creating some length that way. Update: the created nails all popped off within 4 days. But I am loving this gel base and top coat, it makes my nails stronger and shiny. The uv putty has a future for doing small repairs, because it can be shaped and cured so fast. If I want to do a chip repair or something with my jewelry this is a great tool. I.e. I chipped my opal in my ring and was able to use clear and white to repair it and polish it out. Saved me replacing it for nie. Opals are fragile and this material may be stronger. So I will see how long the repair lasts. But at least I can enjoy my ring again. I plan to buy more gel polish by this company because it truly cures with the mini light and my DND brand doesn’t. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I used the Makartt clear gel solid gel builder for the 3D art in the video. I painted over the heart with a Beetle gel polish mixed with clear top coat to create the translucent effect. If you’ve ever worked with clay before, it’s a liiittle sticker than that. The silicon tool that comes with the 4-pack is very useful. I suggest having a glass surface to work on bc it sticks to surfaces the longer it’s on them. If you’ve ever played with Oobleck (non-Newtonian fluid) as a kid, it does a similar thing where it is more solid when you’re moving it quickly but “melts” a little when you keep it still. I found that 30 secs under a LED UV lamp hardens the smaller art pretty quickly and 60 secs is best for thicker designs. If you don’t file it down a little, nail polish has a hard time sticking to the surface. I cured the art right onto the nail and did not need glue to make it stick but I did seal it with a top coat for extra security. Highly recommend this if you’re into 3D nail art. ... show more

Nice set for the price. Great solid gels! The nail charm molds are quite large for nails unless you wear the XL extensions (especially the hearts). The sculpting tool is a nice touch.

First, I love the colors. There is very little difference between the pink and white pearl gels. But both are very pretty. Unlike other products I’ve used, this is not self leveling and is not as smooth as I would like so I had to use a file to smooth out the tops. I will use the product again and will probably buy the pink or white pearl again but will have to allot extra time to finish them. ... show more

The product is definitely on the stiffer side, I found rolling a small ball between my fingers immediately softened the product up. I tried the "lazy girl method" and quickly found out once the nails were cured that the full cover nails pop off when shaping, which was great for me (I hate dual forms) the hard gels formed beautifully underneath; I continued on with my other hand using the full cover nails as dual forms (*remember to size up a size.) Do I think this product is for beginners, I would have to say no. I would honestly recommend trying Makartt polygel nail extension kit first, best way to learn many different ways to use polygel on a wide variety of nail forms available today. I'm a seasoned nail diy'er and I quickly realized that there's a definite learning curve with the hard gel, I personally like the product and see a lot of fun possibilities using it with the next set I do; in the mean time lots of YouTube videos to watch regarding the non stick hard gel.😊 ... show more

I had a terrible allergic reaction! My cuticles were left raw, skin peeling, & cracked open at the nail tips. Not only do my fingers & nails feel horrible, they look even worse & are now all bandaged up! What’s worse is that I have an autoimmune disease & am immunosuppressed & now require antibiotics to help them heel & prevent infection. Do NOT buy! Tried returning the item, but it’s only free to return if you, yourself drop off the package at an approved location.
