If it's warm and not raining, leaving the fly cover off makes it as open as being outside. Except for the door, everything about about 2 ft is open screening. It's great to lay on my back and look up at the trees and sky. Regarding putting it up, the first time, even with the video, was a struggle. This tent was very spacious, easy to set up. However, we’re not sure it’s going to last a very long time. My son is working on his eagle and is very well-versed in camping and set up. This tent blows a lot in the wind, even when staked securely into the ground. The zipper catches on the front flap as well, so you have to be a little careful when you’re opening and closing it. There’s a little overhang of fabric that gets hung up in the zipper. It slept four of us - two with cots very comfortably. We wanted to get a few trips with this tent before writing the review. This tent is very easy to set up. From getting it out of the bag, stood up and staked takes us 10 minutes. As soon as we got the tent, we put seam sealer on all seams, including the rain fly. We have been in heavy rain and no leaks! We have also camped in 45 degree temps (with a heater) and been very comfortable. Lots of interior room and it is great to be able to stand up without hunching over (hubby is 6’2”). It's fairly easy to put up and take down once you get some help, first time assembling it I did it my self and it took me little more than 20min, I'm only 5feet tall and miserable 115lb, and pick high of this tent 6'4" so I had to get a chair to clip couple of clips on the top and to put on a rain fly. Two people set up and take down about 5min, 10min tops. But once inside, it is huge to say the least. Using the with of the tent we were able to put two full mattress on one side and on the other side two cots with space left over for bags along with that two big dogs, and space to go in and out of the tent without tripping on anything or anyone. Quality of the tent is decent with fair use it should last, the body and the rain fly water RESISTANT not water proof and the seems don't have any sealant on so I presume it will leak. The ventilation is good because it has three of the four sides are mess but visibility very limited with the rain fly on, it has no windows except for the front door zip up window, so if you want to stargaze at night you just take off rain fly. Polls are thin fiberglass all 3 of them, two long once for the main body and one short for the front of the door, so be just a little careful because the feel like they will snap. With all of that said bottom line is, it's good for the size, budget start up tent that should last you if you don't abuse it. I hope that helps 🙂 ... show more

I have the 12 person tent. It’s very nice and I like the dark blue color. It’s spacious and not to difficult to set up. Just always remember to zip up and close the tent right to keep the critters out..

    • Roomy, nice tent but it's not for cold weather!
We just finished a week long camping trip with this tent in the Great Smoky Mountains. We had rain one night and the tent stayed mostly dry so I would agree that it is waterproof to a certain degree. However, the weather was between 30-50 degrees Fahrenheit and there was way too much breeze moving through the tent making it very cold. I would say that this tent will be great for warm weather and light rain but not for cold weather unless you add another layer of tarp under the rain hood. The tent is very easy to put together and is very roomy for 2 people, but I'm sure you could fit a family of 4 in there if you really wanted to. It's sturdy and the bottom layer/floor does a good job keeping sticks and rocks from poking through. Solid tent and happy with the purchase, except the cold weather issues. ... show more
