This is a lovely, well-made journal! I have been writing poetry for years and never wrote in a journal. Sometimes the best thoughts cannot wait, so I have written them down as they came to me....on little bits of scrap paper, on large and small Post-Its, on the back of receipts, on yellow legal pads and printer paper, etc. I decided it is time to get a proper journal, and this one is perfect for an excellent price. The leather is very good quality (I purchased the large size with a soft cover), and the size is ideal -- not too large and not too small. It is not precisely "stay flat", but if you bend it slightly, it can be....so you don't need to hold it down with one hand while writing. The soft-sided leather works well for this. I have more than one business portfolio with hard covers and never use them because they are too large and/or not comfortable to carry around. I know I will make good use of this one. The lined paper is nice, too, although I have an odd preference for grid paper (Beechmore: hint, hint ;) and would have liked to have had an option (choice) for that because the journal is not removable, as well as plain paper because I tend to "doodle as I think". The journal came in excellent and thoughtful packaging with the ribbon positioned so that it would be easy to remove it from the box. Having said that, I put the journal back in the box after I removed the tissue paper, and it took several minutes to get it out! I even turned the box upside down, and that didn't help. In the end, I was able to remove it from the box using a cheese spreader. Beechmore: Having your rigid boxes made with a small half-moon-shaped cut-out on the long sides will make it easier to remove the lid in this instance. Although I probably will not use the elastic band affixed to the back cover, I know I will use the ribbon. It is nice having both, however. Having said all of this, the journal will get good use from me and make an excellent gift.

I purchased this journal as my newest wine journal - where I save wine labels and then add commentary on the other side. I chose the “cork” cover and while faux, it is nice and soft and fits the bill. The pages are lined and as a bonus there is a small pocket in the back to store small papers. This stays shut with an elastic loop which indents the cover a little but not too much. Overall a good purchase and happy to use it!

This is a solid journal. The cover is flexible enough for comfort but sturdy so it’s not like a moleskin journal. Pages are clean and write well with a fountain pen. I like that it was an elastic closure. I e been happy so far with this journal.

This journal helps keep everything from meeting notes, to daily to-do lists organized and readily at-hand. Great to have one for each group I work with to keep information organized. Not too large that it takes up extra room in my briefcase or just placed in my purse for a quick meeting trip across campus.

These criticisms are minor, but if I were to request changes, there would be two things. 1. A thicker but softer cover, and 2. Bindings that allow easily opening to a full 180 degrees, and passively staying open without requiring two hands.
