Our mattress is worn and we wanted something that was more firm. Found this topper and we are so happy. It is definitely firm, yet still gives a little. It attaches easily with corner straps. The only thing that puzzles me is the fact that it has about an inch overhang on all sides. It isn’t an issue-the sheets still fit fine so I’m just curious why it’s cut larger than the bed.

This mattress topper is perfect. My back had been so messed up because our memory foam mattress is too soft. I was waking up with terrible back pain every night and couldn't sleep. Since we started sleeping on this topper my back hasn't hurt at all. That being said, it smells SO bad! You can smell it through layers of fabric. Our cat's body smells like it if he lays on the bed, despite having a mattress pad, sheet, and two blankets down. It makes me wonder what kind of chemicals are absorbing into our bodies.

We’ve tried several mattress toppers but all have been way too soft and you sink right in. My husband can’t stand any of them because they hurt his back. We’ve had this a week and he has commented several times how he loves it. It’s a little firm for me but still comfortable. If you want soft cloud-like sink-in topper this is not for you. If you want something firm BUY THIS! … you will be surprised how much support you get from a simple topper. No smell and fits our bed perfect.

I keep waking up with back pain and body aches so I ordered this thinking how could this 3” foam pad make much of a difference? I have a pretty new 10” foam mattress that is a medium firm. I unpacked the bed topper, and flipped it to the firm side and wow. It transformed my bed. I was going for EXTRA firm, but the firm side is a little too firm so I’m glad it has another option. The smell is not great, but I’m sure it will fade. It also doesn’t make me sweat which some foams can do. I am 100% satisfied with this product and I saved a ton of money not having to purchase a new mattress.

Update 06/08/2023: Within a few hours after this original review was published, BedStory contacted me to offer a full refund. And then they contacted me again a few minutes later, once they realized that Amazon's customer service had already taken care of a refund. In my opinion, the appropriate time for BedStory to be helpful was when I reached out to them initially as a new customer, but I did want to make sure I updated this review to reflect their contact. BedStory offered an acceptable solution only AFTER an honest - and unflattering - review was posted. I'm grateful that Amazon honored its customer service assurances. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I purchased this with the idea of "softening" up a new and very firm mattress. I love the mattress, but the firmness led to discomfort with pressure points while sleeping. After reading other reviews, I was careful about airing this out before using. The smell was horrible. It sat in an empty room with windows open and a ceiling fan on high for 4 days before I put it on the bed. The smell had lessened somewhat by then. Overnight, however, the smell got significantly worse; I think that body heat must activated some release of chemicals. My mattress, bedding, bedroom and even my skin reeked of a chemical odor. It's really hard to describe, but it's foul. When I woke up, my sinuses were stuffy and I had a splitting headache. I could not get this thing out of my bedroom quickly enough!! It took another two days of washing/rewashing bedding, using linen sprays on my month-old mattress, and airing out my bedroom with windows open and ceiling fan on high to get the smell out. And that brings me to customer service. As others have said, returning a 3" queen size piece of dense foam is no easy task. I started by reaching out to BedStory, describing my experience and asking how to return the topper. (One reviewer said they did this and that BedStory gave them a no-return refund, and another reviewer said they sent them a box for return; I would have been satisfied with either of those actions.) However, the response I received to my inquiry about how to return this oversized and defective item was: "As long time sealed and stored in PE bag will produce odor aggregation, the smell may be strong when just opened. Hope can get your understand. Here are some tips for you to remove odors: If you are more sensitive to odors, you can choose to put some deodorizing carbon packs or lemon articles to remove odors. Hope this helps." It did NOT help. They ignored my description of airing it out for days and did not answer my original question about how to return the item. I next reached out to Amazon's Customer Service, asking how to return this oversized item. The representative informed me that they couldn't send me a box, but that I could purchase one and be reimbursed for it via Amazon gift card. I purchased a Large Wardrobe box from Lowe's, which was the only thing I could find large enough for this thing to fit inside. It took two people to overcome the challenge of getting this topper condensed and rolled up enough to fit inside the box. (This is not soft foam; it's dense and hard to maneuver.) And then there was the hassle of getting a heavy 24 x 24 x 36 box loaded into a vehicle for transport to the UPS store. This return process was NOT easy. Overall, this was a lot of hassle for a poor quality, unusable item. BedStory offered no reasonable assistance/support and I couldn't recommend that anyone do business with them, based on my experience.
