If you are looking to give your hair a bump, this is what you need. Makes big soft beachy waves with no sprays or hair products needed. I have noticed that wavers like this give me a lot more volume than a curling iron. I have actually been using one of these for over a year but I just bought another one for my sis bc her hair envy was getting annoying. The reviews are all over the board on this and some aren’t even about the waver (as I’m finding a lot that review is about completely different item). I have long hair to mid back length. I wanted something that I could quickly throw in a couple sections when time didn’t allow cureling it to give me that tousled carefree look. It's quick and easy to use, crimpling small sections all the way down. I haven't perfected the top, you don't want to get to close to the scalp or else the volume is insane and not too far down or it looks like you've been wearing a hat. I think that more frequently use will probably change the time it takes for the look. Pros - adjustable heat setting, It has a lock position that keeps plates together making much easier to store Easy to handle. Cons - fine line between wave and the crimp look. I don’t care for how it flips the ends of hair but if your not careful on where you end your ends will look bent. All in All it is a quality feeling instrument with a decent price tag. I do not believe this is going to deliver a polished, perfectly crimp look but that's not the look that I am going for... more of a beachy wave with a larger crimp than the 80's style crimper. I bought this product in part because there were a lot of reviews from people who said they weren't good at styling their hair in general, but had good results with this wave iron. I pretty much have two things I can do with my current chin-length bob: flat-iron the life out of it, or add curl cream and scrunch and hope the gods of frizz smile upon me. I have never been able to figure out curling irons, but I was considering getting one so that I'd have a third hair option, and that's where I saw this wave iron. I've just used it for the first time and I am very happy. I have very thick, unruly hair, and often drugstore styling equipment doesn't work well for me because it doesn't get hot enough. This wave iron heats up quickly and very hot, on the highest setting (it advises you start on a lower setting but I didn't bother because I know my hair). It was extremely simple to use, and even though my hair is thick enough that I had to wave it in a lot of sections, it didn't take very long to style my whole head of hair at all. The waves look nice and bouncy. The biggest challenge was doing the back of my head, but I think the random nature of the waves I ended up with back there due purely to lack of visibility actually looks more natural than a uniform wave. The only real downside of this wave iron is that it is really easy to burn yourself with. The high heat that makes it so effective also hurts if you graze yourself with it. There's not really any kind of heat shielding so if you clamp it too close to your scalp or accidentally touch it while blindly trying to get it onto the hair on the back of your head, it burns. And there isn't really a place for you to grab the end of it to help keep it in place while styling, like there is on a curling iron. That said, I really just had a few grazes, no actual serious burns, and I think I'll get better about that with use. The only other issue I ran into was that I found myself accidentally bumping the dial for the temperature settings and turning it down, so I wasn't getting great waves at the end and had to stop and turn it back up. Overall, there is very little learning curve and I still got a really fun hairstyle my first time so I would absolutely recommend this to someone like me, who is very bad with curling irons and wants to be able to do something different with her hair. make sure you are using a protectant spray, it runs a little hot but works great. i'm in my 50s and hate doing my half wavy, half straight hair, this beach waver makes it a breeze. it runs a little hot for my fine hair, so i turn the heat down pretty low and with practice have learned that it works best to grab larger sections (gets frizzy looking if you grab smaller sections). this was a great deal overall, glad i bought. i know it's on the tail end of the trend but i'm an old lady and it was cheap. great buy! ... show more

I am completely obsessed with this tool! Gives me that beautiful wave look like if I braided my hair while wet, let it dry, then took my braids out (which I used to do all the time to get this look). But it looks even better!!! And it’s super quick and actually lasts! My hair doesn’t hold curl well, but it holds this wave curl in so well. Seriously I LOVE this tool and am obsessed!!! I am horrible at doing anything with my hair other then a straightener, this is super easy to use and give a great wave. I was able to do my hair fairly quickly after getting the hang of it. Give a beach’s type wave. Has become one of my favorite hair tools.
