I am typical: I have to have my large tumbler with me at all times. I had purchased this same model a few years ago, but I dropped it on the driveway last week, and the plastic flip closure on the lid broke. I did find a replacement lid, but then I thought it would be a good time to get a second tumbler for my car, so I don't have to carry it to and from the house every single time I drive somewhere. This is by far the best 40oz tumbler I've ever tried. First, it fits in my car cupholder without any inserts or converters (not true of some other brands). Second, it is lighter weight than some of the competitors. Third, and most importantly, my water stays cold for a VERY long time in this tumbler; water gets warm much more quickly in the 40oz "Y" brand version I tried. I think the flip closure on this brand's lid is what does the trick so well: it snaps very snugly over the mouth hole, and in the process, it inserts a pin in the airhole, sealing the cup very well. That closure also makes it nearly leak proof, at least for casual use. This is also a much more versatile tumbler. The mouth hole is large enough to give me a good swig every time, or I use one of its metal straws in the car to make it safer for drinking and driving. The 40oz version of that other brand only offers a straw opening, which is very limiting to me. I tried their 30oz version, which has their standard lid, but that doesn't keep the water cold for very long, and it's much heavier. The lid for this tumbler fits snugly in place via a rubber seal ring. There's a lip on the lid to help you remove it (it does take a strong hand, since it fits so well). I used my first lid for at about 2 years, opening/closing it at least 2-3 times a day, and it had only just begun to get a bit looser. The finish on this tumbler is of very nice - very hard to scratch the surface, and it holds its color very well over time. It does not sweat even in our warm summers (high 90's). The metal ring at the top is well-attached and will not come off. The inside of the tumbler is easy to clean with warm water and soap. I use a separate handle, to make it easier to grab and hold, but it's certainly not difficult to pick up as is, if you hold it at the point where the cup starts to get wider. The tumbler comes with 2 metal straws and a straw cleaner - a really nice touch, so you are environmentally conscious (metal straw) with an easy way to keep it clean. We keep several of these brushes handy, so I'm not sure how well this particular one holds up (it got mixed in with the others, we can't distinguish it). But we know at least that it holds up, since the original one is still in rotation from 2 years ago. Finally, quality does NOT have to equate to high price. This tumbler is regularly about 2/3 the cost of the competition I've mentioned, with higher functionality and versatility. ... show more

I have finally found the high capacity thermal mug with no leak closing lid. To close completely close the lid you need to click the drink closure so it closes snuggly to the rim to ensure no leak seal. I filled it with hot tea at 8:45 am and 5.5 hrs later it still is comfortably hot. Preheating inside with hot water will improve heat retension. I love this mug. Worth every penny. 30 Oz. Yellow & rainbow We bought two as gifts. And both people love them. One person stops by and gets drive through big cup of ice with water to fill this on way home and even after one or two water refills she still has ice left be noon the next day. One user would have no use for the accessory handle and the other can’t do without it. Mostly because she finds the 30 Oz. Too bulky for her hands. Both like the two included stainless steel straws, and love that company is customer centered enough to include a sturdy cleaning brush too. We got theirs at a discount price and now wish we’d bought a couple more. So far we have no complaints and only good to say about these cups. If we’re not mistaken one can also buy replacement lids. Hopefully only because they can get lost and not easily broken. No one has used hot liquids so we can’t speak to that. So far so great ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Ok, so I like my coffee HOT, and sometimes it takes me a while to drink it if I’m busy or distracted. So I want a cup that keeps it hot but also helps me prevent dumping it when I knock it over. After reading all the reviews on multiple cups, and ignoring the Chinese knock offs as much as possible, I bought two 20 oz tumbler s, a Yeti and The Beast, and put them to my tests for my two needs. I left the two cups on the counter overnight, and the next morning I filled them up with boiling water (boils at 198 degrees where I am). I then filled both cups at the same time, put the lids on, opened the drink opening and tested the water. Starting temp - 186 degrees One of the first things I noticed was the lid on the Beast cup pushed itself up due to the pressure caused by the VERY hot water. This was not occurring on the Yeti. So that means that the Beast cup was sealed tighter, but it also means that the lid being pushed up could allow for spills. After the 2nd hour of testing, and pushing the lid back down, the Beast lid stopped pushing up. I left the water in for 8 hours, testing at the top of each hour passed. I only opened the drink ports to take the temp and then closed them back up. After 8 hours the water in BOTH cups was the same - 110 degrees. So now I tested the spill factor. At first I used cold water, filled the cups and turned them over. The Beast cup never lost a drop. The Beast has a drink port that seals by pushing it down into the lid. The Yeti with the magnetic slide lid, dripped but it didn’t gush. So if you were quick to grab it, you would t lose much. THEN I tested with HOT water. BIG DOWNSIDE for the Beast. See video attached. I filled both cups with hot tap water, which at my place is 125 degrees. I then held the cups upside down and the Yeti I even shook upside down. So the Yeti did the same thing with hot as with cold. It only lost a few drops, even when shaking it. The Beast did what I thought it might - in under a minute the lid came off! This was due to the lid pushing itself off due to the pressure. Yes, the Beast is 100% spill proof, as long as the liquid in it does not cause enough pressure to push the top up. If it is too hot, and you knock it over, there’s a very good chance the entire contents will dump out. If the Beast had a pressure release - so let’s say a very small hole drilling in the lid, then this could most likely be avoided. Even though the Beast is $10 cheaper, I’m gonna go with the Yeti since I put very hot drinks in them. Note - in the pics the Beast is on the left and the Yeti is on the right. ... show more
