Bought this solely because it claims to fit Harbor Freight manual tire changers. It doesn't fit older ones like I have (not sure if it fits any of them). The bearings and clamps are much larger than the HF changer. Returned this one.

There is so much to say about this $100 Krysolad tire changer attachment (Amazon ASIN B0F4R3KGF2) to the Harbor Freight tire changing stand that I will start by saying that it's main claim to fame is that the plastic duck head fitting saves your expensive alloy wheels from being scratched up and redpainted by the standard unmodified Harbor Freight tire changing stand. One thing I can say right off the bat that struck me as odd was what wasn't said. There are no instructions. No assembly instructions. No use instructions. Nothing. Just the box of parts. It took me a bit of trial and error to assemble it properly and even more errors when using it, but it does work. For example, there is a slight ring in the bearing clamps that shows which way the bearings go, but you have to NOTICE that groove to know how to assemble it (as the groove holds grease, so it matters). See the photos for more details, but what came with the attachment said much more in and of itself. First, there's the aluminum centering cone - which - if you've ever used the HF-supplied X-shaped spider, you know the cone is worlds better in terms of centering the wheel on the changing tool. Then there is the duck-head PLASTIC attachment, which is important because plastic won't scratch the soft alloy wheels. And then there is the fact that most people won't notice but the duck-head attachment has a grab bar at the bottom which makes grabbing the tire carcass all that much better. What also comes with the Krysolad attachments are two greased multi-piece bearings and aluminum cinching levers for all-around adjustment. One tool you're going to need to set this up though is an Allen wrench to tighten the bearing holders in place at the top and bottom. You just can't beat this tool for improving upon the original HF tire changing tool, and yet, if you don't want to use it, then you still have the unmodified HF tire changing tool as this simply slides onto the pipe to extend the capabilities of the HF tool. What you do is remove the tire and wheel assembly from the vehicle, and then break the bead on both sides using the Harbor Freight bead-breaking tool, and then you place the tire onto the HF mounting stand, and then put the centering cone in place (instead of using the wheel-scratching "X-shaped" spider from the original Harbor Freight tool). Then you cinch down the original locking head, and only then do you place over all of that, like a hat on your head, this wonderful Krysolad attachment. Using this Krysolad attachment, you use a tire lever to slip the bead edge over onto the duck head, and then you rotate around the tire using the long pry bar that came with the original HF mounting tool. You then lower the duck head to the underside of the tire and remove the lower bead and you simply reverse the process for reseating the upper and lower beads on the new tire - which is mostly where the problem of scratching that this duck head tool resolves. Overall, the tool, with the centering cone and duck-head attachment, makes it much easier to unmount and mount tires on expensive alloy wheels without scuffing or scratching those alloy wheels. That's what this tool does over and above what the original unmodified HF tool already does.

The Krysolad Bearing Manual Tire Changer Duck Head Adapter Kit fits great on my Harbor Freight manual tire changer and was very easy to install. The build quality feels solid, and the bearings provide smooth operation, making the whole tire mounting process more manageable. Durability has been good so far, and overall functionality meets expectations for a manual setup. While I eventually upgraded to a rim clamp tire changer—which is definitely much easier and more efficient to use—this kit delivers the fundamentals and is a great way to learn the proper technique for mounting tires. For the price, it offers very good value.
