I bought this hammie back in september and take it everywhere with me! I'm an avid camper and festival goer so it gets some solid use! It's so easy to set up and take down and is so durable. Easily fits 2 people to comfortably sleep overnight together. Recently I found a couple holes in my hammie (self inflicted holes) and today it ripped completely. 10 minutes later I was in touch with bear butt and had another one sent my way FREE OF COST! And did I mention the entire custome service conversation was though TEXT MESSAGE!! It was the easiest conversation I've ever had. Simply sent a picture of my poor torn hammie and the REAL PEOPLE on the other end made my day! Thanks so much guys!     • Poor quality material that won’t hold up.

Worked great for a month or so but then went downhill. The straps that the hammock is made with broke while my husband and 8 month old baby were laying on it (husband weighs about 155 lbs), thankfully they were ok. I contacted Bear Butt and they said I needed the upgraded straps! Really?! If you don’t upgrade it may brake right away?? Just charge more and sell a hammock that won’t brake without upgrades! Anyway (tangent over), they weren’t willing to reimburse me for the hammock so they sent free straps. They were supposed to send 2 pairs because I bought 2 hammocks (one was a gift) but the second pair never came and my friends never received their straps. That said, about a year later, the material of my hammock tore at the top, its almost completely torn off at this point. I’ll have to take a photo. Needless to say, I’d go with a different brand. I sure loved the style and was trying to support their biz but not impressed with hammock or customer service. ... show more

Okay, first, let me say, their customer service is awesome and they answer questions fast. I was new to hammocks, and they helped me find a stand for my new bearbutt. Now, I got the hammock really fast, and let me tell you, this thing is heaven. Insanely comfortable. So much so, that I actually moved my old worn out bed into the guest room and brought the hammock into my room. I sleep like a baby now and my back issues are gone. No pressure points, comfortable position, very soft and it doesn't "cocoon" you like some hammocks can. ... show more

Your browser does not support HTML5 video. After using for ourselves, we bought everyone in our family a bear butt hammock! Easy set up if used with their kodiak straps. We also have the bug net and rain fly so it is our tent when we backpack. I love hanging and never wake up with an aching back like I would when sleeping on the ground in a tent. We found the key to the perfect/comfortable hang is to count 13 feet one in front of the other in between hangs. Any trees further than that are too far apart and will make the sides too taught and uncomfortable. My husband and I have slept in this together while backpacking making the combined weight of over 450 lbs and it held us just fine. Not only do our kids love it, but my 64 year old mother has also climbed in with me to see what the hype was about and we ended up having to buy her one. We highly recommend this brand. They say they stand by their product and will refund or replace guaranteed, but we’ve not encountered any need to return anything yet. ... show more

Hammock itself is nice rope that come with it junk. Had it hung up rope snapped some hiw with my 70 lb daughter in it. Slingshotted the mental clasp into her head. Had to take her to ER to be checked out. Buy new wrope!

I was looking for a new hammock to take my son on more camping trips . I was shopping for an ENO hammock but before I could make my purchase I went on a camping trip with my sons scout troop. I noticed one of the other scout leaders was using a new hammock and asked him about it, I had never heard of the Bear Butt brand. Based on the good things he had to say and obvious quality of the hammock I purchased two. One for myself and one for my son. We recently returned from a camping trip to Hanging Rock State Park and used our new hammocks. After a long day of hiking it was time to set up camp. I believe it took us an entire 10 minutes to have both hammocks set up and ready to relax in that included unpacking our new Kodiak Straps. I have nothing but good things to say about these hammocks. The quality of the workmanship that went into building these hammocks is impeccable. The triple stiching at all the stress points is something you would expect in a hammock costing twice this price. I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the hammock as well. I'm not a small man, I'm 5'11" and weigh in at 215 pounds and had more than enough room to stretch out. If your in the market for a hammock you can't go wrong with a Bear Butt. I would like to add I was not given any kind of discount or compensation for my review. I am just excited that a company is selling an excellent quality product coupled with outstanding customer service that I wanted to share my thoughts. ... show more

    • High quality in a low budget

I bought this hammock a few months ago, my first one ever. Well I finally got to use it over a four day camping outing in the forest. The hammock is extremely strong. I'm a big man 290lbs and it held me with no problem. My son also tried it and loved it. I suggest you buy their Kodiak hammock straps. I just ordered them today for our next outing. The ropes that come with the hammock are maybe 3/8" in diameter. Even double looping around the trees they cut into the bark. Also they stretch a lot. I had to re-tie the knot to shorten the length at least 4 times. Each time my butt was touching the ground and had to get up again to re-tie. The rope gets so tight it sounds like a bass guitar string and is heck to untie. I had to use pliers to undo it. Next time I'll use my head and use the Kodiak straps. The hammock appears to be well built and definitely large enough for two people but works well for 1. I'm sure this would hold someone much larger even maybe 500lbs. The BearButt hammock fits in a nice attached stuff sack and is very easy to do. It's amazingly small and would travel well in a day pack or backpack. I can see why there are so many 5 star reviews with the quality and lifetime guarantee! ... show more
