I ordered this Hcore CloudRider Bean Bag Filler, 5lbs Premium Shredded Memory Foam Filling, Comfortable and Soft Stuffing because I wanted to stuff some outdoor cushion covers. I bought some cushion covers for our porch, but was astounded at the prices I saw for indoor/outdoor pillows to fill them. I remembered a friend had mentioned filling their outdoor pillow covers with shredded memory foam, and thought it was worth a try. This came in a clear, white, and blue package that measured approximately 7.09"D x 7.09"W x 21.26"H. When I opened it, there was a mild off-gassing smell, nothing too overwhelming. I put it out on the patio for the day, by evening, the smell has dissipated. What I really liked about working with the shredded foam is that I could pack each pillow as loosely or tightly as I chose. I have a messed up spine (broken neck twice, fusions, bulging discs, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease—it’s a whole party of yuk back there) so finding the right support when sitting or lying down is important to me. I tend to mix pillows that are overstuffed for extra support with pillows that are softer and can be molded to the exact shape I want. That gives me a choice of layering to find whatever feels best that day. I used the shredded memory foam to fill several small throw pillows for our porch. I found the foam easy to work with and comfortable once the pillows were stuffed. I am curious, though—why is the memory foam infused with copper, and what does the copper do?

We have a couple of old bean bags that started off with Styrofoam pellets – that’s how old they are. Styrofoam slowly over time gets smashed and compressed, and they never come back to size. Memory foam is a better filler, and the foam came rolled up in a bag. However, they are actually loose and fluffy once you let them decompress. The foam is soft and fluffy, and it had a slight smell, but once we let it air out and fluff up, it seemed fine. We added it to our bean bags, but ours are so decompressed that one bag of filler isn’t enough. The foam is pretty good quality, and I’ll need more. The bean bags are slightly fuller now, and the foam is very comfortable and soft.

This stuff is exactly what I needed. It arrived tightly compact in plastic. I emptied the foam filling into a storage tote to let it air out and expand. Yes, it does have a chemical smell at first. I put the storage tote outside on the deck for a few hours and the chemical smell was almost gone. After a day or so the smell was completely gone. I used the foam filling to add more fullness to decorative pillows on the sofa. I added a thick layer of this foam filler in between the current filling in the pillow inserts. The 5 pound bag is a lot, I will have left over for another project. Be patient and let the foam filler air out for a day or so. My decorative sofa pillows not have lots of support. Best of all, you control how much support you want by adding more or less filler. Very happy with this huge bag of foam filler.

I followed the instructions and let the beans rise for over 24 hours and it helped me complete my bean bag. I already had about 15 lbs in it and just needed about 5lbs more and this finished the job! Its very soft and fluffy. The only annoying part (as if any other beans) is that when you try to put them inside the bean bag chair on your own, the fluff does fly everywhere and its just a hassle to pick them up/clean afterwards. other than that, I am satisfied with the results

I'm a bit torn on the overall feeling this particular fill for my cushion I use as a foot rest and occasionally use as a seat. The comfort levels aren't all there since the foam isn't very uniform in shape and creates a gravel like grid on the points of contact and when in use you can feel those inconsistencies on the skin. It's not unbearable but doesn't scream relaxation or wanting to use it for an extended period of time. If you're in the market to find something as a fill and don't really care much about plushiness then this might fit the bill in your use, however I can't say I'll purchase more of this in the scenario I need to fill it for any sort of cushion.
