This book is a good introduction to makeup. It could be more in-depth (e.g., as someone with hooded eyes, I was looking for more info about how to apply eyeshadow for that eye shape), but this is a good overview to makeup application.

This book is beautiful, straightforward, and pretty comprehensive. While it seems like basic knowledge, for a beginner like myself it was anxiety-relieving to have a resource that told me what I need to know, in what order, and included the "at a glance" sheets for each step of the process. I was hoping that this book, short as it may be, might provide some interesting anecdotes or new makeup tips due to being one of the more recent books written about makeup. Instead it's ... very generic and not really bringing anything new to the table. If you've ready any of the other "major" makeup books, you have the details for this. The Kindle version is always just a PDF scan, you can highlight of course but pretty disappointed that the author offered a Kindle version w/o actually making the book Kindle compatible. ... show more

It was all right. I did learn some things. I am older and not very experienced at makeup. I learned to not be so hard on myself, to practice a lot. If it looks awful, it washes off. I am getting better. If you are a beginner, just practice and play. It's fun.
