Description

What if the pursuit of beauty nearly cost you your heart? For decades, Eydie Forte built her life inside the global beauty industry. From the fashion houses of Milan to executive cosmetic counters, from luxury retail expansions in Seoul to elite clientele under bright studio lights, she became known as a “Beauty Magician” — a master of transformation. She understood lighting. She understood formulation. She understood presentation. And she understood how to make women look flawless on demand. But beneath the glow, something was building. In October 2022, while preparing to board an international flight, Eydie collapsed. Her heart was failing. Years of relentless striving, chemical exposure, stress, and divided loyalties had taken a silent toll. She underwent open-heart surgery. Her chest was split open. Her life was, too. This is not an anti-beauty book. It is not a rejection of elegance. It is not a call to abandon cosmetics. It is not a manifesto against ambition. It is a revelation. In The Dark Side of Beauty, Eydie takes readers behind the curtain of high-end cosmetics, international fashion culture, and performance-driven beauty standards. With disarming honesty, she traces her journey from a young Korean girl raised to believe flawless appearance equaled worth… to a global beauty authority who mastered the system… to a woman forced to confront the cost of worshiping surface over stewardship. You will follow her through: • The early conditioning that tied beauty to value • The rise of her international career in luxury cosmetics • The chemistry she once promoted — and later questioned • The spiritual reckoning that unfolded on an operating table • The backlash from former clients when she changed course • The rebuilding of her life through natural beauty, faith, and integrity • An unexpected late-life love story she never would have chosen For the woman who… • Spends more time fixing her face than resting her soul • Has tried every product but still feels unsettled • Wonders if high-performance beauty comes with hidden costs • Feels pressure to remain flawless at any price • Is tired of chasing glow and craving peace This book will resonate deeply. A Beauty Insider’s Confession Eydie does not write as a critic from the outside. She writes as someone who built her reputation inside the machine. She negotiated global cosmetic deals. She worked with elite clientele. She curated high-end fashion environments. She mastered the art of transformation. And then she chose to walk away from divided loyalty. Today, she serves women through healthful beauty, faith-based stewardship, and global ministry — proving that elegance and integrity do not have to compete. The Question This Book Asks What if beauty was never meant to be fought for? What if it was meant to be honored? You can look flawless and still be failing underneath. The Dark Side of Beauty is the story of what happens when the surface cracks — and something truer emerges. If you are ready to look beyond the mirror… This book is for you. Read more

  • What the Beauty Industry Doesn’t Want You to See
Format: Paperback
The Dark Side of Beauty by Eydie Forte is both eye-opening and deeply personal. Eydie takes us on her journey from a young woman facing cultural beauty pressures and teen acne, into the elite world of celebrity makeup artistry and international luxury beauty sourcing. What makes this book stand out is her honesty. She doesn’t just expose the hidden toxicity behind many beauty practices; she has lived it. Her turning point, a sudden heart condition that led to emergency surgery, becomes a powerful wake-up call that reshapes her entire mission. Chapter 5 was especially compelling, offering practical insights into natural beauty alternatives that don’t come with the hidden costs of conventional solutions. This isn’t a book about rejecting beauty, it’s about redefining it in a healthier, more authentic way. If you’ve ever questioned the true cost of looking “perfect,” this book is well worth the read. ... show more

  • Honest, Deep, and Truly Inspiring Honest, Deep, and Truly Inspiring
Format: Paperback
This book truly touched me. What I appreciated most was the author’s honesty and vulnerability. She shares her incredible life experience so openly, without filters, and you can feel the sincerity on every page. Her journey from the world of high fashion and beauty into something deeper and more meaningful is both inspiring and thought-provoking. It’s not just a story about beauty — it’s a story about identity, purpose, and what really matters in life. There is so much wisdom in this book, and it’s shared with genuine love and care for the reader. You don’t feel judged — you feel guided. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to look beyond the surface and reflect on what true beauty really is. ... show more

  • My interpretation of The Dark Side of Beauty
Format: Paperback
This is a must read for consumers of women's beauty products. Eydie is very open and honest with her part in the beauty industry and history. I found the book interesting for a couple reasons, I learned a little more about my friends life and she taught me about the life of women and the importance that they are flawless in appearance. (no matter what the situation) Men don't know or realize the lengths women take to be beautiful. Eydie mentions several products for sustainable beauty from the 70's, I remember watching the commercials on TV advertising how great they are. Looking back the products contained harmful ingredients that I hope today are outlawed. I read the book in two hours. I couldn't put it down. I hope you enjoyed Eydie's journey as much as I Did. ... show more
