3.5 stars. The description is a bit misleading, so buyer beware. I see no way in which this gauge can be waterproof. There's no lens over the led display and if you look at the terminal on the back, no seal to the case there either. It does not match the advertised pictures. Though I didn't need mine to be waterproof, I would much prefer to have one with a lens covering. Another inaccuracy in the photos is the word "voltage" across the top. I ordered the orange one, and its photos do not have the print on top in the photos. However the gauges I received have the print. Scrolling through the photos of the other colors I knew this was a slight risk, but still disappointing nonetheless. I was able to scrub off the print with a magic eraser but it also changed the texture/finish slightly. Anyway, the whole point being is that if the gauge says DC and V at the bottom there's no reason to print voltage at the very top!

I built a central electrical panel to install in my 14' aluminum boat. ( Box, switch's , 12V receptacle, Running light and Trolling Motor mounts were all bought here on Amazon.) I included one of these that would turn on with my main switch so I can always see how much voltage reserve I have on my battery while out for the day. The readout is bright and the unit seems robust.

These meters do exactly what they are supposed to and are small but very readable. Will use this to check battery status or any other DC voltage in my Jump Kit. Will buy more as needed for other equipment. Hope this helps!! Bill.....

I got these battery voltage units to determine if my small solar battery chargers kept my battery on a infrequently used generator in good condition. Very bright even in sunlight. Only two wires needed, and wished it had included a fuse link. Now I am not sure but this unit probably could be left running without shutting off. Never-the-less I am installing these on the key switch which turns off when the key is off. I will just turn the key to the on position and monitor the battery charge. Installation, well it is easy if you are a bit handy. You will have to drill a hole which in my case is in metal, thin metal, and a nut will secure it in place. Wiring-a few tie wraps and loom will cover the wire. I checked the unit against my Volt/Ohm meter and it was within a tenth of a volt difference. Just be cautious with the positive wire connected to the battery to this unit as it will probably really spark if grounded and is the reason for a inline fuse.

I purchased these small meters to help with a project on my riding mower. A voltmeter that monitored the battery and charging system would prevent surprises. The meter was relatively well made, had a very good display (green) and was easy to install...no initial problems. I had read about the possible inaccuracies, but I was looking for 12.0 - 13.0 vdc so a tenth off was not an issue. Then both the first and second meter both failed after an hour or so, I did observe polarity. The problem may be that these meters can not handle spikes that will occur during the engine starting cycle. the picture shows the trouble light on while the meter is dead. Maybe an installation on a stable battery pack will be more acceptable to these meters, but a 100 percent failure rate precludes this type of application.
