I bought this for my daughter. According to the manufacturer, the pan is pre-seasoned. My daughter was debating on whether to season it again, just to be safe, however, without additional seasoning, she decided to test it by cooking brownies in it and then biscuits (the next day). This 8-inch by 8-inch cast iron pan is a great addition to your cast iron collection. It comes well-seasoned and ready for use after a quick first wash. The interior and exterior surface is a bit grainy - more so than Lodge pans generally are, for instance. The only downside of this, in my opinion, is that fibers from either cloth or paper towels will rub off onto the surface very easily. It's not a big deal if you use a little extra care and a light touch. Personally, I like the finish as it is very consistent and has a nice texture. It makes great "baked hamburgers" just the right size and is easy to clean. The design on the bottom is excellent, and the pan comes with detailed and clearly written care instruction. My only complaint is that there is no hole in either handle, so there's no easy way to hang the pan on a wall hook - unless you drill one yourself (which I don't want to do). ... show more
