  • Great Size and High Quality
I really like this convenient size that is easy to use. The quality is really good and everything I've cooked (mostly meat) has turned out great. I appreciated the instructions that came with it and I am following the advice given, since I am new to cooking with cast iron.

  • Good Pan
This 8-inch by 8-inch cast iron pan is a great addition to your cast iron collection. It comes well-seasoned and ready for use after a quick first wash. The interior and exterior surface is a bit grainy - more so than Lodge pans generally are, for instance. The only downside of this, in my opinion, is that fibers from either cloth or paper towels will rub off onto the surface very easily. It's not a big deal if you use a little extra care and a light touch. Personally, I like the finish as it is very consistent and has a nice texture. It makes great "baked hamburgers" just the right size and is easy to clean. The design on the bottom is excellent, and the pan comes with detailed and clearly written care instruction. My only complaint is that there is no hole in either handle, so there's no easy way to hang the pan on a wall hook - unless you drill one yourself (which I don't want to do). ... show more

  • I. LOVE. THIS. PAN
I do about 90% of my cooking on cast irons and the traditional circle cast irons were all too cumbersome or I couldn't fit enough in the pan. I bought a 10.25" square Lodge cast iron prior to this one and it was just too huge.10.25" Lodge circle pan was extremely heavy. This is the perfect size for 1-3 serving meals with tall enough side walls to cook anything and everything. The size of the pan fits exactly over the large burner. The texture of this Bayou pan is more rough than a Lodge pan but it I haven't had any issues with sticking (Eggs, meat, veggies). It is heavy duty without weighing too much. I was a little nervous after reading that one comment about having to sand it down - I think he just prefers the smooth cast iron cooking experience. The roughness of this pan is exactly how it's supposed to be and all my pans have texture. Enabled pans is probably what you're looking for if you want something smooth. ... show more

  • Nice piece of cast iron
I use it in my smoker to hold smoking chips and bigger pieces. So much nicer than the piece of tin the smoker came with. Nice thick cast iron! Probably going to order another one or two

  • Wasn’t Perfect At First
Got this pan two years ago because I wanted the square shape. I have several skillets, a 9x13 pan and a small 5” square pan. All are Lodge except for one pan that was my grandmother's Griswold from before 1957. This Bayou is the only one that rubbed off black every time I cleaned it and made apples and berries turn purple/blueish black when baked in it. I was about to toss it, but decided to reseason it despite it having come seasoned since it never got better with use. Seasoned it with safflower oil in a 450* oven for 30 minutes three times. Now the black is gone, it has a smoother surface (some complained it was rough) and I’m hopeful it will perform better going forward. There is simply nothing better, in my opinion, than good cast iron cookware. My Griswold pan is a testament to that. ... show more

  • Perfect size for toaster oven!
Great for making cornbread in my toaster oven in the summer

  • An almost perfect baking pan
I received this pan, and noticed it is well made, and not too rough a finish. I was a bit skeptical of the factory pre-seasoning, so I immediately seasoned it using soybean oil at 350 f for one hour.. What a great pan! I've made corn bread, cooked veggies, and no sticking. Very nice!

  • Don't know how I got by without it.
Bayou Classic 7472 Cast Iron Baking Pan, 8 by 8" Sold by: stores123 $26.67 Condition: New The price is now "$23.91 & FREE Shipping on orders over $25 shipped by Amazon." 7/15/18 Kinda wish I'd put off buying it, but I wanted more iron in my diet, and I stopped using the microwave. This fits in the toaster oven. I can use it on solids like cut meat and vegetables, or fill it with soup or eggs. It takes longer to cook now, even with the temp jacked up, but this was a plus for me. I forget I'm cooking frequently, and I have yet to burn anything in this pan. Now I can chip away at the stuff in the freezer. ... show more
