  • Cheap and good, but signs of low quality control are obvious.
Style: AC10380
I seem to be one of the reviewers who have been lucky with a working product, but there are signs of low quality control everywhere that make it clear to me that it is probably not unlikely to get a dud. First the pros: It is very easy to adjust windage/elevation, zoom, and focus. It comes with 3/8 rail scope rings and even has them preinstalled for you. The bikini style scope cap is nice- it is transparent so you can have it on the scope and still see through it, with a yellow filter for blue light protection. The picture is very clear up until 8x zoom, and the crosshairs are not blurry at any zoom. Now the cons: The first thing I noticed when I took the scope out of the packaging was that the little Barska logo on the adjustment cap had fallen off! This seems pretty ridiculous to me. I just glued it back on with a dab of superglue but this did not give me high initial hopes about the quality. The next thing I noticed once I put it on the gun was that it was canted in the scope rings! It was angled to the right by about 5 degrees. If you are going to install this part for the customer at least do it correctly. An easy fix, but again, one that should not happen with proper QC. As I adjusted the scope's cant I also noticed that the screws for the scope rings are not hex keys like on all other scopes I have owned before but a combination phillips head/flat head type screw. These are not good screws at all because they can be rounded out much easier than a hex while trying to tighten them down, which I noticed signs of already happening with mine. I slipped while tightening one of the screws and it got deformed noticably. It appears the screws are relatively soft metal and may need replaced (preferably with hexes) if you take this scope out of it's rings more than once or twice. The lack of hex key screws continues once you get to tightening down the optic securely. The screws for the rail attachment pieces do not have hex slots in them! They have a very wide flathead slot and a smooth round inside area that definitely could have had a hex slot in it instead of just being empty space. I found actually getting the scope focused was rather annoying. There is a large amount of threads to adjust the focus on but almost everything past the first 1.5 threads is superfluous and seemed to exist solely to send me on a wild goose chase. And no matter how much I tried to focus it I could not get the x8 or x9 zooms to be clear. They are blurry while x7 and below are very crisp. Overall, this scope is definitely great for the money but the quality control issues are obvious even on a working example. I can definitely see how other reviewers have had issues. I will be updating my review after zeroing it and testing how well it holds that zero. For now, a tentative 4 out of 5 assuming it works fine down the line. UPDATE: Worked great on my 10/22. Got it zeroed quickly and was very nice to shoot with and kept its zero fine after 500 rounds. Keeping the 4/5 due to the issues listed earlier in the review. I will be ordering a second one to put on my Marlin 60 as well and see how that does. ... show more

  • Great budget scope.
Style: AC10380
For a .22 caliber rifle, this scope works great. Don’t expect it to be a Vortex, but for a budget scope this thing is really good.

  • Good value

It’s a good scope for around $30.00.

  • Great buy for the money
Style: AC10380
I wasn't sure if this scope would be worth buying but after reading reviews by others I took a chance and I'm glad I did. I attached it to my rifle and sighted it in with no problems. I found it held its sight-in after many shooting sessions and the optics weren't bad for the money spent. I also liked the fact that it came with scope rings. ... show more

  • Love Baraja scopes, great product for the price
Style: AC10380
Mounted this to my wife’s Sig AR15 and one on my S&W AR15/22. When the weather cools off we will go to gun club and have some range time relaxation

  • Good value for the money
Style: AC10380
I ordered this for a recently purchased S&W 15-22. The only issue is the scope rings will not fit the rail. Emailing Barska (they have no phone for customer service) confirmed they will not fit. I ordered new rings which went on easily. With slight adjustments for elevation, the rifle was dead on a two-inch target at 75 feet (max range distance). If you order the scope, order some new rings at the same time. ... show more

  • Not zeroed from the factory
Style: AC10380
These are not zeroed from the factory. I recently decided to upgrade my Remington 597. I picked up this scope, and a set of 1 inch rings. The included rings did not fit the wide mounting plate. There are a few different ways to dial-in your scope. Many places will use bore-sights[Gun-shops/smiths]. In some cases you can unseat your bolt and peer though the barrel, which works quite well. But in this case, I am using a semi auto 22. I spent an hour trying to put this on paper from 50 yards, was not able to get it on paper, or the backstop that I was using. I moved up to 5 yards, and was able to get it on paper. I was aiming at a target on the lower right of the paper. I was making contact with the paper, but at the the upper right. I spent half an hour fiddling with the adjustment knobs, was not able to get anywhere near closer, to the target I was shooting. There was no breeze that day. I gave up and issued a RMA from amazon. Upon receiving my RMA, I had a more savvy colleague, assist in adjusting the first scope I bought. We weren't at the range, and did not have a bore sight, we zeroed the optic with a Kleenex box. We cut matching V notches in the short width of the box, and laid the scope in place. This method requires that the scope rings be removed, so you can easily rotate the scope. We aimed the scope at a fixed object 10 yards away, and set the power to 3 When rotating the scope, we noticed that the cross-hairs were not aligning to the same point when rotated. [It should be noted that both scopes [the first"defective one" and second 'RMA replacement"] had this issue.] It created a 6 inch oval at 10 yards. We proceed to adjust one knob at a time, until we were not making an oval, when rotating the scope. Once we had one axis dialed in, we repeated the same process for the other axis. I believe we were 3 full rotations on the Up/Down axis, and 4 Rotations on the Left/Right axis. After adjusting, I mounted the scope onto my rifle, and headed to the range a few days later. At 50 yards, I was a bit high, a quick vertical adjustment put me on center consistently. Maybe it was just my luck with these two scopes, but I wouldn't count on these being accurate out of the box. My local gun store does bore sighting for $20 a gun, Cabela's was charging $35 if you didn't buy the scope from them. ... show more
