This sturdy and attractive umbrella has been handy tho I have yet to use it as shade from the sun. I find it difficult to close and it takes more strength than I can muster without pressing it against a sturdy object.

Very sturdy! I have not used it since it hasnt rained when i bought it but once i got it and opened it felt pretty strong and good size for 1 - 1 1/2 people. So strong that it was a little hard to close and lock back in ( thats why the 4 star) i have to really put in the work to close it.

My umbrella had broken after years of tagging along in the car door pocket, and I was searching for a new one, knowing that this would be an opportunity to try out the "new" kind that fold in on themselves instead of spraying water all over me and the car when I closed it. This one opens fast! It's large enough to cover 2 people, or me+work tote+coffee. I find it a convenient weight - I think it's light without being flimsy. Its a tad bigger than my other, but it still fits in my car door pocket. And being really fair-skinned and prone to burning, the spf coating is a bonus, while still having the pretty mint green on the outside! Worked for one day then when I tried to open it up a second time the button jammed and will not open at all now. If it was not for it being completely useless now it would be an amazing item. The one time I was able to use it, it provided great shade.

    • Best out of 10 different umbrellas
So I bought 8 different umbrellas to try and compare also in lavendar to match my new rain boots. I did a wind test and water test and my final oick was this one. It passes the wind test by far and will not fold over at all. Its is water proof. I tested it with my own shower and all that water never once came through. This is a true lavendar color and was the best match to my rain boots. The construction is solid and the handle is comfy. Also the auto button easy to use and closes and opens perfectly. The wind test was the biggest reason I chose this because all of the others failed! This umbrella is it and will hold up to a wind and strong rain! The only bummer part was it does not come with its own sleeve and only a plastic bag to put it away. I would not have even tried the others if it had come with a bag but was my overall pick anyways because the qualities outweighed the thing not having its own sleeve to store. Carried this at Darian Lake Amusement Park on a windy 90 degree day. It worked great to protect from the blistering sun and held up to the dry gusts of wind. It is hard to close, but that may be a testament to how sturdy it is. Have not had this long, but so far, so good. Would recommend.
