  • Hey Mikey— He likes it!
Size: 8 Ounce (Pack of 6) Style: (2 Penne/2 Rotini/2 Shells)
My family likes pasta, but heck, traditional pasta is full of carbs and although my teens are fine loading carbs, I am not. One hits middle age and he/she has to watch what she eats. Let's face it, can't eat like we did as teens. That's where Banza Chickpea pasta comes in. Okay, its not exactly keto, and still has a fairly high carb load, but its quite a bit less than regular pasta, it has nearly twice as much protein and it tastes quite good. It doesn't taste exactly like real pasta; it has a subtle flavor. I suppose its chick peas I'm tasting, but its almost nutty and it is quite good. I actually like the flavor and don't see it as detracting from any use, whether eaten with a traditional marinara, a pasta salad, or as a side with something like chix parm. I intend to try it with pesto— think that might be really tasty. Anyway— my kids like it, its a healthy alternative to traditional pasta— its a win-win. ... show more

  • A Good Pasta!
This is a good substitute for regular semolina pasta. I don't mind the flavor and the slightly heartier texture and with flavored sauces you can easily get used to the difference. We use it all the time now. Banza is more filling than regular pasta so you eat less and still get full. It has a lower glycemic index so it's much healthier if you have to watch your blood glucose levels like I do. Plus you get some protein! I only wish the cost was less. The price for an 8 oz box is twice (or more) what you pay for a 12 or 16 oz box of regular pasta. I use Amazon Prime so I look for the cheapest offer and at least there is no shipping charge. ... show more

  • I love this pasta
This purchase was the first time I had ever bought a Banza product, so I figured it would be best to get the variety pack so I can see which type works best for me. I didn't even know products like this existed. I just thought pasta was pasta. That was until I found that I suddenly was allergic/sensitive to a million things and had to restructure my diet. I am sensitive to pretty much all fruits, vegetables, and rice. I was somewhat sensitive to wheat, but that is not an issue anymore. Either way, some of the best sources of fiber were ruled out of my diet just like that. Then I stumbled upon Banza Chickpea Pasta. The main selling point for me was that it's a fairly safe food in terms of allergies/sensitivities. I read that even people that are allergic to everything (me) can most likely eat chickpea products - while that may or may not be true, it turns out that I have no issues with it. I was happy that it was packed with fiber since I needed a solid source of fiber after losing most of my sources due to sudden sensitivities. I was even happier to see that it was also packed with protein as I enjoy weightlifting and am always looking for whole-food sources of protein. I don't have a gluten allergy or intolerance, but I was trying to limit my intake while my body was in that sensitive state post-surgery (suffered from leaky gut for months afterwards), so this product being gluten-free was good. The first time I tried this it was hard to eat. I used to eat regular pasta plain (don't care for tomato sauce), so I figured I'd try this plain. Yuck. I needed something to take the bitter taste away and make it so it wasn't a chore to eat it. Barbecue sauce makes everything better, so I squirted a little in my bowl and mixed it up. It sounds gross, but I really like it. I only use a little bit - just enough to mask the weird taste. Just enough to make it enjoyable. This chickpea pasta is now a staple in my diet. I usually prep my meals for the week on Sunday, but this pasta is an exception as I only cook enough for 2 days worth of this stuff. I'm sure it could go longer in the fridge, but I'm not sure how the texture and quality would be as it is a bit different than regular pasta. It's quick enough to cook it up anyways so I don't mind doing another batch on Tuesday night. When I heat it up at work, I just splash a tiny bit of water in there for it to soak up while heating and it's great. No different than just after cooking. Bottom line: safe food for me with all my allergies/sensitivities, great source of protein, great source of fiber, non-GMO, keeps well in the fridge, quick to cook up, tastes good when you prep it right and use something to mask the natural plain flavor of it, gluten-free as a bonus ... show more
