  • Gorgeous, comfortable, opulent deep green designer in-ear phones with excellent sound, finally!
Color: Green
From the feel of the leather case to the comfort of the earbuds in my ears, I adore these earbuds. They sit comfortably in my ears like emerald gems, even for long periods of time and will move from noice cancelling to transparent mode with a tap on my left earbud. Call quality is clear and music sounds fantastic, and I can remain on the line with my husband for hours with no issues with call sound. He noted that they do seem to cancel out noise in my background, as when I express regrets about the noisy environment, he does not understand what I am referring to. This is a huge bonus, since I do run two businesses and often have children in tow or make and take calls in an environment with some background noise. Further, the noice cancellation feature is fantastic when I want to focus and think and strategize or problem solve. At times, I leave them in as ear plugs for this reason and when toggle to change availability to let my reception staff know that I am available for calls, I move to seamlessly taking and making calls hands free. I realize that the low ends/bass is not "the same" as my Bose Soundsport, and not "the same" as my husband's highest end Sony in ear phones, but the "difference" honestly does not bother me in the least. If I want to use my Bose Soundsport, I will. If I wanted Sony, I would have bought them, but I wanted these for the design and performance both. My husband also just purchased Bowers and Wilkins newest wireless in ear phones and I am surely able to try them and compare and contrast, since those clearly have low end built in, based on the size of the earbuds alone, just as the Sony ones, but again, if you want Sony or Bose, buy them. They won't be these little gems. Never mind the little bit of low end that is not quite there as they would be on those other buds, I enjoy the aesthetics and features as well as the more than adequate sound performance for the money far too much to part with them or to feel I am missing out on a thing. Be sure to get the B & O app and adjust the sound and settings! I also own the Beo Play 3rd generation speaker in the same gorgeous deep green and the app controls both, which is so handy. There is ample bass in the Beo Play 3 speaker, which is where I want it. I do not want enough bass for a headache in my in ear phones. (These are just my two cents, being married for 25 years to an audiophile, and learning what good sound is and what it isn't. I love my B & O buds!) If I didn't mention the stunning deep green enough times, let me mention once more: these are stunning in color and design, and look as high-end designer as they truly are. I am wanting a second pair of earbuds to go with another phone of mine and I'll be buying B & O again! Since the green I purchased have shot up to $500 a pair due to supply and demand, I probably will select gray or black this time around. I treasure my gorgeous green ones all the more. So classy looking, such a lovely aesthetic to be worn and enjoyed along with the funtionality and the sound. Bravo, B & O! One more note: I needed to call customer service late at night to set these up around my busy life and CEO life schedule. A great rep answered right away and guided me through set up and was amazingly patient as my own executive assisting team in professionalism and helpfulness. My phone disconnected us, and I called back in and got the very same rep. I felt the quality of service matched the pricepoint and expectation I had. All in all 5 stars, and all are well deserved. ... show more

  • Broken within 24 hours - Better off with Gen 2 and Qi Case
Color: Black
TLDR: Only improvement over gen 1/gen 2 of the E8's is the battery life and smaller size. Sound quality lacks far behind the originals. Right earbud broke in under 24 hours of use. Bought these after having a faithful pair of Gen 1 E8's that I loved. Guess I was one of the lucky ones that they fit my ears snugly, and with comply tips they basically canceled out any ambient noise for me. Great for plane/train rides and commuting, only downside was that the battery life was low. My Gen 1's finally began having issues holding a charge after 2.5 years, and I was in the market for a new pair. I tried the new Master & Dynamic MW7 Plus headphones, but ended up hating them. The noise cancellation was a joke and they let way too much ambient noise leak in, even at the highest volume setting and with comply tips. No app to adjust the equalizer was also a bust for me. Was super excited when the Gen 3 E8's were announced, and I ordered a pair hoping that it would build on the successes of the first generation while addressing it's shortcomings (battery life, water resistance, better mics, etc.). Right away I was let down. The Gen 3 are nowhere near as powerful as Gen 1, which I suspect was a trade off to eek out better battery life. Playing the same song at the same volume level one the Gen 1 vs. the Gen 3 back to back there was a noticeable difference in the amount of outside noise leaking in. With the Gen 1 I could go to the gym and have the volume at 75% and be isolated from whatever music was blaring on their stereo system, but with the Gen 3 even at 100% volume I could hear the outside music the gym was playing quite well. The new B&O app is also awful. I refused to delete the old BeoPlay app off my phone because in addition to sliding around the little dot on the touch tone equalizer, you could actually use your fingers to pinch the dot larger to widen the sound stage. Which, I think gives the Gen 1/2 E8's a huge advantage in terms of sound quality. You feel like you are inside the music rather than it being in front of you. I have no idea why B&O got rid of that feature in the new app, but it would be nice if they brought it back. Finally, the coup de grâce for me on these were that they broke in under 24 hours of me using them. I removed the right earbud to have a conversation with someone at my office, and when I put it back in my ear, there was suddenly a significant difference in volume between the left and right earbud. I tried re-pairing them, reinstalling the B&O app, factory resetting the earbuds, but no luck. The left earbud works fine and will still go to full volume, but even with the volume cranked all the way up,the right earbud maxes out at maybe 1/3 of what the max volume should be. Returning these and going with either the Sennheisers or the Sony's. B&O is kidding themselves if they think they are going to be able to sell these at $350, when the Gen 2 are a much better product at a $100 discount. ... show more
