I've had the Beoplay E8 2.0 for over a month now and am content with my purchase. I looked at the Sennheiser, Sony, and Master Dynamic competitors before purchasing the B&O. At the time of purchase, they were discounted by $100 at all major online stores, which was a major motivation in pulling the trigger. When researching these earphones, I was not aware of the upcoming Apple AirPods Pro, and most likely would have purchased those instead. SOUND I think the sound quality is good, not great. They are an improvement over the $30 Sony MDRXB50AP earbuds I had been using for the last 3+ years; but they also cost 10x as much. I find that the quality of your source makes a big difference. New music designed to be downloaded or streamed sounds great; 80s music as well as older jazz and classical recordings sound flat. The B&O app has 4 presets plus the ability to manually create your own. It does not use a graphic equalizer; it's more of a "drag your finger around a circle until it sounds good" thing. I personally use the "Workout" preset which adds more "warmth" and it's fine for me. All that being said, if these were $300 over-ear closed-back headphones with 50mm drivers, I'd expect a lot more. BATTERY LIFE I'm disappointed with the battery life as I have never been able to get more than 2.5 hours of use from a full charge. This is significantly lower than the 4 hours advertised. What's even more frustrating is that the app will say they are fully charged all the way up until they run out of juice. CONNECTION I generally experience no connectivity issues on a day-to-day basis. I do recall one morning on the train where they disconnected for a few seconds and my music started blasting out of my phone (I was using the Sirius XM app, so perhaps that had something to do with it). That's been an isolated incident so far though. NOISE CANCELATION Using the Comply foam tips, the passive noise cancelation is decent. If you are listening to more relaxing music or talk radio, you'll get some background noise. More intense music like EDM or Hip Hop at a moderate volume will block out a lot of noise. It's definitely enough to miss your stop on a train if you aren't paying attention. Also worth mentioning that it's enough to prevent you from hearing people say "excuse me" when on a crowded train, so get in the habit of looking around to see if others are trying to get off the train when approaching a stop. Keep in mind, if you really need noise cancelation, get a nice pair of active noise canceling headphones - don't abuse your eardrums with excessively loud music. AMBIENT SOUND Pressing the left earphone will pipe the outside world into your earphones using the microphone. It's definitely useful, but the sound quality isn't great. There is some noticeable static and voices sound robotic. However, if you do need to talk to somebody, it will get the job done. I do use it frequently since the "pause" gesture on the right earphone doesn't work for me. Using the ambient sound feature will pause whatever your playing, so this works for me. Mike Wat on YouTube compared the Sennheiser directly to the B&O, and concluded that the Sennheiser's ambient sound pass-through is much clearer, if this interests you. MICROPHONE I've had to use these on conference calls a few times. My coworkers were able to hear me just fine, but there was a lot of background noise. I would NOT recommend these if you need to make a lot of calls while walking around the city. To be fair, based on all the video reviews I've watched, all of the truly wireless earphones struggle in this area. AirPods seem to be the best option if you need a decent mic. COMFORT / FIT The headphones stay put and feel very secure. I do not run or do Crossfit, so there's no way these will ever fall out of my ears. If you are doing those kinds of workouts, you should just buy Powerbeats. AESTHETICS I think these are great looking, but you will stand out especially if you live in a city where everybody has AirPods. People just aren't used to seeing large pieces of black plastic in your ears. APP B&O have always been about aesthetics. Their web design is exceptional, so I went into the app with high expectations. The app is also well designed and easy to use. After downloading the app, it walked me through the initial pairing. It also prompted me to update the firmware on the headphones, which took 10 minutes to complete. Like I mentioned above, the battery indicator in the app is useless. This seems like a software issue and will hopefully be resolved. Essentially, it says my headphones are at 100% all the way until they die (and subsequently disconnect). CASE This was one of the killer features for me, as I really wanted Qi wireless charging like the AirPods. I also absolutely had to have USB-C on the case, which these have. A USB-A to USB-C cable is included and it is reasonably long. There are 3 lights on the back of the case to indicate how much reserve power the case has. There is one (very elegant) amber light on the front of the case that turns to green when the headphones are charged. Note that if the case itself is not plugged in or on a charging mat, the light doesn't stay on. Given that the app doesn't tell me how much battery life they have, I just have to assume that after a couple hours in the case, the headphones are fully charged. There's also no way for me to see the reserve power of the case, unless it is charging itself. I suppose I would have liked for the case to light up when it's touched, since I understand leaving the lights on permanently would drain the battery. Aesthetically, the case is better looking and appears to be higher quality than the Sennheiser and Master Dynamic cases. The Sony case is the best though, in my opinion. SUMMARY You have a few options in this price range. Based on reviews, Sennheiser has the best sound quality, Sony has the best noise cancelation, and Master Dynamic have the best YouTube commercials. If you're planning on buying over-ear headphones in addition to wireless earphones, you may want to consider sticking with one brand so you don't need multiple apps on your phone. At the time, I felt B&O provided a really nice overall package for what I wanted; however, if the Apple AirPods Pro were available, I may have made a different decision.

The Beoplay e8's have a wonderful sound signature, accurately reproducing the frequency range that is surprisingly similar to their headphones (I have the H9i's as well). Clear, accurate highs, with tight and thumpy bass. The B&O app is great for adjusting the sound signature and one can even adjust how much passive audio is pumped in. Having also owned the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless (MTW) 1st Gen, I can say that the bass is more present there, which gives it a very energetic sound, and can be pleasing to listen to if you ultimately want the highest level of bass in a true wireless set. I personally find that the MTW's sound quite muddy, and at times, overwhelming the rest of the audio range, which I personally don't like. I appreciate how B&O supplied five different ear tips to tailor the perfect fit. The earbuds are stable in-ear and haven't fallen out or even come loose. I do prefer the Comply foam tips as they do the best at noise isolation and comfort, although it does make the earbuds feel a little "crooked" in the case but never had an issue charging. The Sennheiser MTW, though being a much larger earbud unit, never felt loose either, so it's really just the fit. I personally feel the MTW being more comfortable to wear, but that will vary person to person. The tactile feel of the e8's earbuds are very nice. Although it is primarily built out of plastic, it does not feel cheap and has a very nice soft-touch coating on it. With a little touch of metal though, the earbuds exudes minimalistic beauty and look quite discreet. The charging chase is very attractive as well. Leather all around, aluminum bits, an LED to indicate earbud charge, and three on the rear for case charges available. The e8's case easily bests the MTW's just by size though, not even thinking materials. The MTW's case does has a nice fabric covering, and the buds feel very secure inside, but the size of the case is bulky, and it only holds two additionally charges (at best) compared to the e8's three charges. Call quality is fairly good, and the receiving end only had issues when I was in a crowded area. Not bad, but probably could be better. Now, this leads to my only complaint about the e8's. The microphone holes are located at the bottom, ever so slightly towards the front of the earbuds. Basically, when I put them in, I need to check in a mirror to make sure that I have rotated the earbuds enough or else the mics are obstructed by my ear. I recall the first time I used ambient mode and I couldn't hear a thing. After feeling around for a bit, I could hear where the mics were and determined I hadn't put them in correctly. Just be aware of this when you put them in. With a few days of usage, I was able to determine by memory how they need to feel in my ear to best have unobstructed mics. Once it's in the right place, they work just fine. The usage time is as advertised. At about 50-70% volume, I can listen for at least 4 hours and still have about 20-30% charge left. Might not seem like much, but I normally start my work day at 9am, and when lunch comes around, I just toss them into the charger, come back, and they will last me the rest of the day. The MTW's lasted about 3 1/2 hours, give or take 15 mins. They would die before my day ended though so they were all ready in the case by the time 5pm rolled around. Given that the drivers are just larger, I'm not surprised. For me, I care about the audio experience. The e8's earbuds and the case, as a complete package, they just work very well together and besides the microphone placement, these are hard to complain about. I think most people will be pleased by the e8's, but as a recommendation, it's hard to say. If you're truly after getting good audio, these will do it, but at a compromise. If you just need something to alleviate the drone of your office, there's plenty of inexpensive choices that will probably suite you better.

The sound is amazing - it is the best sound of any headphone I have every laid out money for. The comfort of the fit is also very good. I suspect they would be awesome in the gym, but I couldn't get past the following two issues to give them a try. I have to take off two stars for two very important issues to me. First issue - bluetooth connectivity is awful. I would put the buds in their case and would have to reset the bluetooth just to get it to connect with the device it was last connected to. I have three bluetooth devices that I would want this to be connected to on a regular basis, and I will settle for two if that was all I could get. But I cannot accept that it will not consistently connect back with the same device I was just connected to. One star removed for bad bluetooth implementation. Second issue - the phone use. I could get by the fact that my parents can hear me much better using my Trekzair bone induction headset if the darn buds would let me hear the call in both ears! The call is only heard in the right ear bud! Okay, many people in the world are right handed and thus bring their phone up to their right ear - but I am right handed and put my phone to my left ear! There was this odd "silence" in the left ear during calls that was down right annoying. That was something I don't see a need to get used to as a trade off for having great sound considering I am not an audiophile. One star gone for terrible call implementation. Maybe I can afford expensive ear buds, but I want them to work in a way that works for me. No stars removed for the problems I had with pause/skip taps when I was adjusting the fit or that noise cancellation was pretty good, but nothing to rave about. These are going back.
