They have an odor, but not so much to make one sick of it. It is to be expected with the material used to have a slight smell to them. Sturdy, and all within a Pound of the listed weights on side. Worth the price tag for what I want them for. I don't do a lot exercises requiring me to drop them from over head but I imagine for the basic drops they are sturdy. Shipping was a bit of a SNAFU but customer service was well involved and working on getting them to me despite the courriers attempts to not make it happen.

These are really nice weights for the money. The rubber coating is thick and durable. The lettering is in a recessed area that won’t wear off easily and the center metal sleeve is solid. I’m sure these will hold up forever in my home gym. Anyone who has spent time in the gym will already know this, but this is a tip if you are a newbie setting up a home gym. There are many various sized weights out there. If you look at my pictures you will see I have a 35lb, 15lb, and 10lb racked together and they are all the same size diameter.. this is what you will want when you start doing certain exercises where you touch the ground with your bar like dead lifts for example. Just something to consider while shopping.

One section of the description says that it is sold in “pairs” Another section excludes the 55lb weights under its sold as “pairs” list. Once I received the item, opened it, and found out there was only one, I was annoyed that I was misled by the conflicting descriptions and sent the item back. The bumper plate itself seemed to be nicely made, but I was misled by the company’s conflicting description. PROS Quality bumper plate No horrible rubber smell (of course there was some rubber smell to it, but nothing obnoxious) Cons Misleading/conflicting product description. Only ONE plate is shipped

I have several of these weights and I really like them. When you take them on or off they’re easy to handle with the grippy rubber and they have a groove on both sides to help. The only downside is the strong rubber smell. It takes a week or two to dissipate. On the next plates I purchased I washed with soap on a wet wash cloth then wiped off any soap with another damp cloth followed by a tad of oil on steel inside for rust prevention. Smell disappeared almost immediately! It was a good workout but isn’t this why we lift? Actually I kind of like the smell as it reminds me of back in the day drooling over new Schwinn stingrays at Johnnys bike shop….
