  • Good Serum & Does Feel Smoothing & Hydrating-But Scent Too Heavy For My Fragrance Sensitivities
Balance Me Bakuchiol Smoothing Serum is supposed to be for smoothing and hydrating the skin and also boosting collagen. This serum contains bakuchiol, which is a plant based extract that’s an antioxidant compared a lot to retinol for its skin restoring capabilities without causing the irritation associated with retinol. When used regularly in concentrations of .5-2%, backuchiol can smooth the skin, diminish wrinkles and improve elasticity (per Paula’s Choice). I have no idea of the concentration here. While I try retinol products now and then, I have yet to find a product with significant amounts of retinol that I can tolerate as it irritates my sensitive skin. So I’m interested in a retinol substitute. I found one pump used at night sufficient. This has a lightweight but creamy feel that’s pleasant. I have dry and sensitive skin and get temporary slight stinging sensation, but it goes away and isn’t what I’d call an irritation. My skin feels hydrated and smooth using this serum, but I can’t say if it boosts collagen as I’d assume that would take regular use over a period of time. This serum seems high quality and may be effective, but difficulty with the scent has kept me from using it nightly. It doesn’t have a bad scent, which I’d describe as floral, woody and citrus. But I smell a strong lavender smell and it smells especially heavy when on my face. It burns my nose and makes me feel headachy and nauseous at times. I have bad allergies and get headaches and nausea from lavender and some other fragrances (natural and chemical) at times. This serum appears to have a mix of natural and chemical fragrance, with many fragrance ingredients being known allergens EWG rates moderately risky. This serum seems good generally, except it may not agree with those sensitive to fragrance. 4 stars. Made in Britain. Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Coco-Caprylate, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Cellulose Gum, Candelilla/Jojoba/Rice Bran Polyglyceryl-3 Esters, Glyceryl Stearate, Bakuchiol, Crambe Abyssinica (Abyssinian) Seed Oil, Borago Officinalis (Borage) Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetyl Alcohol, Terminalia Chebula Fruit Extract, Squalane, Caryodendron Orinocense (Cacay) Seed Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate, Rubus Fruticosus (Blackberry) Leaf Extract, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Seed Oil, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Fruit Oil, Mauritia Flexuosa (Buriti) Fruit Oil, Bursera Graveolens (Palo Santo) Wood Oil, Boswellia Carterii (Frankincense) Gum Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Oil, Pelargonium Roseum (Rose Geranium) Leaf Oil, Litsea Cubeba (May Chang) Fruit Oil, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Red) Peel Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Xanthan Gum, Maltodextrin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate, Benzyl Alcohol, Dehydroacetic Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Citral, Citronellol, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool. ... show more

  • Fantastic smoothing serum by Balance Me
Balance Me is a very nice product line. This is a great smoothing serum that comes in a great little bottle with a pump dispenser. I really like the fragrance of this one. It is very lightweight and absorbs quickly into the skin. II found this one does not leave any residue on the skin which is great. I like how my skin looks and feels when I use it. It is soft and smooth and just looks great. All in all very happy with it. This one is one of their more expensive products but I find it is worth it. ... show more

  • So far so good
Recently I have tried many different face creams. So far my skin is to sensitive for gycolic acid and retinol. This doesn't irritate my skin like those do. I haven't seen any major improvement in my skin but it does feel moisturized and this doesn't feel heavy on my skin.

  • Allergic Reaction
After two days of using this, my face and neck were very red, my eyelids were swollen, and I had huge bags under each eye. Antihistamines and lots of water have helped but I am still puffy faced.

  • A gentle, plant-derived introduction to retinoids
This is my first try of Balance Me skin care. First of all, I very much recognize the environmental protection concept of this brand. It has got a recycling information on its packaging. I'm very familiar with retinol. But it's the first time I heard about bakuchiol. Its vegan status is a big plus for many people including myself. I am impressed with how this makes my face look! • Lovely from the Land of London: Bakuchiol—yes—but what’s in it?
This is a newer product from UK-based Balance Me and I hope the company will update the listing with the full ingredients list here for this intoxicating Bakuchiol Smoothing Serum. If you are reading this review you may know plant-based Bakuchiol is rapidly gaining momentum as a Retinol alternative for those who experience skin irritation. However, whether a high end beauty product or not, many prospective buyers want to peruse the full ingredients list in advance. After some detective work and a visit to the company website, the full ingredients are listed there. Bakuchiol is ninth from the top. Ingredients natural with oils including cranberry and rosehip. Sodium Hyaluronate in included, too. A derivative of hyaluronic acid, is also described as the “salt of the acid.” It smooths and hydrates skin, helping to reduce the signs of aging. My wife is moving toward all-natural products and really appreciates the Balance Me approach. ... show more
