It actually worked pretty good. I tried it dry shaving, since wet shaving can be messy, and it did the job. It's tricky to get all the nooks and crannies, depending upon the shape and musculature of your back, but it is doable once you see the spots you missed in a mirror. I'm guessing if you have a partner, they can make even easier work of it for you. The blades appear to be designed well not to nick and cut as long and you don't obviously try to "dig in" and merely brush back and forth, like you see in the videos. All in all, it's a good grooming tool .

Its expensive but man it works so well. There is a learning curve but once you kind of get that down you easily do it really quickly. The first time (depending how hairy you are lol) might be longer than the next other times. It is very nice, my back feels cooler as well in the warm heat. Again, it is very expensive. No way it should cost as much as it does, but it is worth it.

I took the package off my front porch, opened it, and ran to my garage to use it! Worked incredibly. I don’t have a ton of back hair but when I let it go, it can grow out a bit. I was previously using the mangroomer and it worked ok but it took some time to get all the hair and to also use properly. Once my mangroomer died this week I ran to Amazon to see what the latest trend was and found this. Be Wow!! 3 minutes and I’m am completely hair free on my back! The coolest thing was putting my shirt back on and feeling my shirt against my skin. The device does not feel like it’s worth $65 and the materials don’t warrant the price but I can’t argue with results and that’s the only thing that matters.

The razor has been very effective and easy to use. Unfortnately it has quit hold the blades where they just fall out. I will reorder it one more time to see if this is an outlier issue.

I was using a man groomer battery operated for the past 10 years. I don’t have much bad to say about it except it would leave red scratches on my back. The handle broke after many, many uses. Was sad to see it go. This one was a new concept, with actual straight blades, but I gave it a try anyway. Wow, what a clean cut. It’s truly remarkable. Probably took me about 25-30% less time to do it with this as well. I’m very happy with my purchase. The blades slide out for easy cleaning. My only concern is how long the blades will stay sharp. I do my back once per month so if each set of blades lasts a year I’ll be happy.

I've owned 2 ManGroomers and have never been totally satisfied with the results. They would leave red tracks on my back immediately after shaving, and over time the blades would dull to where they would be painfully sharp to use. Even the motor would get louder over time, like it was having a hard time moving the blades. I once tried putting lube on the blade edge but that didn't help. The first one I owned I dropped on the floor and it broke in a way that couldn't be reassembled. The second one was the deluxe version that had 3 different types of cutting heads; I really didn't like any of them. I just used the BakBlade for the first time (dry), it was terrific! I even shaved while having a sunburn, and it didn't cause any irritation! For the people who used it and had razor burn rash, my recommendation is: go SLOW and DELIBERATE with LIGHT pressure. This is a BLADE after all, not a zig-zag sideburn trimmer. The instructions said to use short strokes like a back scratcher; I did long slow strokes with a light hand, going over an area a second time if necessary, and it worked great. Don't hack yourself up by being in a hurry and trying to force it. The wide width of the BakBlade made for quicker overall shaving time compared to the ManGroomer. Even with the wide blade installed on the ManGroomer, it requires quick back and forth motions to be effective, where the BakBlade only needs one slow pass.
