Should I Buy It?

If you are looking to start with RC trucks or looking to add a new one to your collection, the Base Camp RC truck seems like a good choice. Though minor adjustments may be required, it appears to be a great truck with potential for customization if desired. Note that a battery and charger may have to be purchased separately.

    • Why green of all colors?
Color: Green
Purchased this in green, of which green is so not My favorite color. After I got the vehicle, the green didn't look so bad and began to grow on Me. This is a great beginner truck, or a great truck for those looking to add a good solid RC truck to their collection. Typically, with Axial vehicles, I always want to upgrade them to improve their performance. This is one of those RC vehicles that runs good out of the box without upgrades, and of course, probably a beast with weight down low. I Am going to run this vehicle stock for several months before I even consider upgrading it. I chose a Spektrum IC3 2S 5000mAh battery and I have more than enough juice for what I do (primarily rough terrain and light mud. Actual rock crawling is okay, but NOT my primary objective. Articulation and modulation are pretty good. There is no On or Off switch, so the remote needs to be turned on prior to connecting the battery so that the vehicle doesn't accidentally move potentially damaging something. When finished using, disconnect the battery first and turn off the controller last. Always disconnect Your battery immediately after usage. On a last note, one of the first things that You MUST do upon receiving the Base Camp RC is TRIM the rear of the front fenders because they rub something awful when the vehicle is turning and articulating at the same time (I hate modifying RC bodies, but in this case, it was VERY necessary.) Only a few mm needs to be removed. Secondly, You MUST also loosen the front bumper and slide it out and away from the vehicle one (1) notch. This will prevent the wheels from scrubbing the front bumper while turning. Do the aforementioned two things and You will love this vehicle. Axial really needs to do better with this particular body and its front fender wells. I would still recommend the Base Camp as is because it is really a nice truck, a.k.a. unlicensed Toyota Tacoma. The media could not be loaded. This is my first crawler and I love it. Added some brass parts and beadlocks which made a huge difference. For the price you can’t beat it. Super capable crawler. The media could not be loaded. I love it. Only a handful of upgrades and a detailed body. Everything else is box stock. Great chassis. I have no complaints. I did notice a slight issue with turning left. And also the servo was losing power. I switched gears from another servo and major improvements. The run time i get from a 3000mah battery is great. Went out with a buddy and played around with our RC trucks at a gravel pit. His is a bit modified and mine is stock. Only things he had on me were grip(aftermarket tires and foams) and he was a little faster(upgraded motor) but we were both surprised at how capable it is out of the box. A great out of the box RTR(ready to run) crawler! For a budget release of Axial's scx10 iii it holds it's own on the rocks and as a trail truck. Very customizable and the nonlicensed body is very lightweight compared to the bulkier jeep bodies seen so often. If you're just starting in the hobby or looking for another rig you won't be disappointed! The spectrum remote/transmitter is a good entry level remote for beginners, but has settings that are more customizable for the seasoned crawler as well. I've had mine for a few weeks and I crawl hard. So far nothing had broken and the minor issues I've had like links bending or balljoints popping loose have all been fixable on the spot and without tools. Overall it's a great buy and performs far better then you'd expect from an RTR. As good if not better then the trx4 sport. I highly recommend it! ... show more

Fun truck! So far no issues. We thought it was going to be a more royal blue, it’s a muted blue. Looking forward to doing a few mods. We definitely recommend it.
