I had been semi-breaking out over the last few months (and I say semi- because it wasn't like red pimples all over my face all the time), but I would get papules on my nose every day. I would squeeze one, and two more would appear the very next day. Both my nose and my cheeks would be red, almost like rosacea. Then I went to the dermatologist who prescribed me some pretty strong stuff that just dried out my face and didn't work at all. Then I got this Aveeno Calm + Restore cream. Nothing short of a LIFESAVER. My redness went away SO FAST, and the papules stopped appearing. I use a simple face wash first (CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser) and then put this on, sunscreen on top, and then petroleum jelly to seal it all in. It works PERFECTLY. I received it on March 25th, and since then, I haven't had a SINGLE papule on my nose (no exaggeration). It's smooth, it's light, it's fragrance-free, and with the petroleum jelly, it lasts all day. I have very sensitive skin. I am subject to flushing and heat and little blisters. All this is recent and quite uncomfortable. I read about this cream/gel and thought it was worth a try. The results and relief were immediate!!! I felt like I was witnessing a miracle. Redness immediately subsided as did the heat. It was easily absorbed. I think the lighting on my photos doesn’t really give it justice but I’ve been using this product for 5 days, and I see a substantial difference already. I have been struggling with this redness for months, and more expensive products don’t seem to affect it at all. This actually seems to be working. Not oily, or sticky. When I first used it, my face was tingly, but it didn’t hurt, it was just weird and it only happened when I first used it and not since. Bumps are almost completely gone and I think I have a chance of getting it all to go away in a few weeks. I recommend it. So far it seems to work for me. ... show more

    • Burns/stings for a few minutes till it dries, but seems to hydrate very well
Recently diagnosed with Rosacea, due to a massive flare up on my entire forehead, scalp slightly into hairline. Had been flaring lightly for months, coming and going. I believe the culprit was a hard cider that had added sulfites, as I never had that specific cider before, rarely drink ciders and I can’t think of anything else I ate or drank that would’ve done it. I don’t have a diagnosed sulfite sensitivity. Anyway, the flare up has been very painful, like a bruised burning sensation along with intense itching and skin shedding. The first two nights on Metrogel were miserable, was actually painful, and dried my skin so bad. Did some research and found this moisturizer, and Aveeno products usually work for me. I have sensitive skin, and this cream is a bit rough when first put on. It could be because my skin is so raw, but I wait for about 10 minutes after an application of Metrogel, and put this on lightly. It stings and burns for a few minutes while it absorbs and dries, but it absolutely starts calming the dry intense burning/ itching, crawling sensation in minutes. After using it for 3 days, my skin is looking a bit better. It’s probably a combination of the metrogel, washing my face with a sulfur containing soap bar, which cleans the skin, but pulls oils out, really drying it along with the Metrogel. I wait about 10 minutes after the Metrogel dries before I apply this. Like I said, it burns and is unpleasant for a few minutes then rapid calms down and makes the skin feel nice and helps so much with flaking and that tight feeling. My forehead doesn’t feel like sandpaper anymore, probably because it’s peeling like crazy, like dandruff of the forehead, and is exfoliating. This cream is good, really helping the dry skin. As far as fighting redness, I can’t attest to that as my whole forehead looked like I was buried in the sand up to my nose on the hottest sunlit beach for 10 hours. Maybe for small patches, but for any large area that’s looking real rough, it may help a bit, but I’m not seeing any big change after 4 days. All in all, it’s a good cream, that won’t clog your pores as your body exfoliates and tries to heal itself. The burning/stinging sensation upon application is the only reason I’m giving this product 4 stars. ... show more

My boyfriend is very sensitive skin and I ordered this for him to use Daily on his face because he is very dry and flaky rosacea. It will be a great product for someone to use with sensitive skin. It’s fragrance free and a pretty thin moisture.

This “calming and restorative” face cream deserves its own spa playlist. The first time I put it on, my skin basically exhaled and said, “Finally, some peace and quiet.” It’s like therapy for my face — smooths the chaos, tones down the drama, and somehow convinces my pores to behave like they were raised better. My skin went from “tired mom who’s been through some things” to “someone who actually drinks water and gets eight hours of sleep.” It’s rich but not greasy, smells fancy without being “why does this smell like my grandma’s perfume,” and makes my face so soft that I catch myself touching it like I’m in a moisturizer commercial.     • Not for people with Rosacea. Bring back the old stuff in bottle with light green cap
This is suppose to replace the moisturizer face cream that had the light green cap.. this stuff is very different. After using it a few times I found it irritated my facial skin, caused redness and little bumps. I then read reviews on Aveenos page and found it did the same to others. Wish I could still buy the old facial moisturizer that they replaced with this. Definitely not for rosacea. ... show more
