    • I used this to top off my 35 year old Snap-On vacuum pump for auto A/C
I knew my antique Snap-On vacuum pump has seen better days. It was top of the line 35 years ago and has seen a lot, a LOT of use. My gauges would show only about 28 1/2 vacuum, so I used the old pump to run for an hour or so, then close everything and use this to pull it down to the stop pins on my gauges. After letting it run there for 15 minutes, I close off everything and wait 45 minutes. If all is well and my gauges stay pinned, I know I have a good system to go. The price was unreal and performance excellent. I would not expect it to last 35 years, but using it to "top off" my Snap-On, I expect it will outlast me. ... show more

So the pump came without oil in it, but inside the box there was a bottle of oil. It honestly was really not quite enough, but it does allow you to operate the pump above the minimum level per the sight glass. I've so far used this pump twice. I did have one little hiccup where the pressure dropped and it went a little wonky, but perhaps just an air bubble in the oil, as so far no issues since. It sure beats spending twice as much to rent a broken one and having to force yourself to work faster so you don't get overcharged by not returning your rental in time.     • For ac system pulls -30 in seconds! Ran for hours no problem.
Even though the oil leaked out and was a big mess on arrival. After the trip to Napa auto parts for premium pump oil. The thing works great. Pulled vacuum on my ac system for hours, no problem. Pulls to -30 in seconds, that’s pretty good for the awesome price tag. But they seriously need to put the oil in a container, no point in preloading a mess for us to clean up. FWI only place I could find pump oil was Napa auto parts, to avoid waiting for delivery of oil. Honestly, a good pump though, and super quiet. ... show more

    • Handy vacuum pump for Automotive AC
I've already used this pump to evacuate and recharge an automotive AC system. It worked fine and the suction was better than expected for 1/3 hp. It does not come with oil so I suggest you purchase vacuum pump oil beforehand. It came with fittings for R 22 and R 134 a as well as other refrigerants. For 20 years I've been using an old compressor I cut out of a refrigerator to vacuum down AC systems so this compressor is quite a treat. ... show more

Set up on a mini split, put fresh oil and started it up, it took over an hour to get to 1000 microns, I thought maybe something was wrong so I checked all the fittings for leaks and found none, double checked manual, oil, let it run for 2 more hours and noticed that when it started approaching 500 microns my fieldpiece micron Guage was jumping up and down. And after another half hour the pressure went back up to 600 and it couldn't pull more. Got out my old no name Chinese vacuum pump with half the cfm and didn't change anything else. Pulled down to 250 in less than an hour no problem. Glad I had a backup. I'm now 1 day past the 1 month return date. ... show more

This unit is a lot lighter than I though it would be even when filled with the oil. Ran it for a few minutes just make sure it worked then put a vacuum gauge on it and turned it on, it went to 28 inches on my gauge within 30 seconds. So that looks good. When I get done with my AC project and go to rest for leaks and get the moisture out of the system will be the final test. I will update as I go. So right now a full 5 stars ... show more
