    • Buy the toy, but throw out the ribbons!

This toy comes with a few extra items you can attach to the wire, including a couple of pieces of narrow ribbon. Get rid of the ribbon immediately! If cats eat ribbon, string, thread, or yarn (which they do, for whatever reason), it can get tangled in their intestines and strangle parts of the intestine, depriving it of blood supply. This is a life-threatening situation and can require surgery to save the life of the cat. Keep all string-like items away from your cat! My cat loves this toy! It’s still in good shape after a month of hard play. I love the fact that it turns itself off and then back on again a while. That matches the cat’s natural pattern of fierce play for a while, then a period of down time. The automatic off and on feature means that I don’t have to chase down a buzzing toy that the cat has walked away from. It holds a charge for a good long time. The USB charging is definitely better than having to constantly feed it batteries. Drawbacks: it is kind of noisy. When it’s on, even if it’s not moving and the cat is ignoring it, it makes a mechanical noise that gets on my nerves after a while — which is when I hook it up to the charger or turn it off. Also, it gets stuck under things frequently. The base doesn’t get stuck. It’s good at maneuvering out of places. It’s the wire on top that gets stuck under things like the coffee table or the flaps of an open box. It’s easy to release once you know it’s gotten stuck, but it may have wandered somewhere out of sight, so you don’t always know when it’s stuck. On the whole, this was a good purchase. It has pretty much kept my perpetual motion cat occupied for a month, and isn’t noticeably the worse for wear. I haven’t had to drag out any other toys. This is the only toy she’s played with since it came out of the box. Full: disclosure: I have three cats, and two of them rarely play with this toy, but I expected that. One is middle-aged and fairly sedate, while the other one, the sister of perpetual motion cat, is a 24/7 lap cat who rarely plays with anything. Like T.S. Eliot’s Gumbie cat, she sits and sits and sits and sits, and is not tempted by toys of any sort. ... show more

I have no complaints about this toy. I purchased it for my three year old orange cat for Christmas and he loves it. Here’s a list of things that I love about it: 1) Easy to assemble 2) Comes with multiple different accessories 3) The accessories seem to hold up well 4) Not too loud 5) Rechargeable rather than having to constantly replace batteries 6) Easily moved from one area to another (I have saw similar toys that use something like a suction cup on the bottom to keep it in place) 7) It always manages to stay upright on its own even when my cat has tilted it over on its side 8) It has a light to show the charge level 9) Holds a charge well (I’ve only had to charge it twice in the two months that we’ve had it and it has been used every day) 10) It turns on for like 10 minutes at a time and will come back on for another 10 minutes every two hours or so) ... show more

This is the best cat toy I have ever bought (at least for one of our cats)! Our 12-year-old cat gets so much enjoyment and exercise from this toy. I love the way it turns itself back on every two hours and the fact that it rights itself after she holds the end down on the ground while she attacks it. This is so much better than the automated laser toy we have because the cat gets the satisfaction of actually catching something. She catches and chews on the dangle toys, and bunny kicks them. The feather did not last long on the first dangler we attached, but she is still thoroughly enjoying the ball the feather was on, so we haven't tried any of the other danglers yet. She jumps, runs around, and pounces with the toy. We have never seen one of our cats enjoy a toy so energetically for so long. Our other three cats have spent some time watching the toy but haven't used it much. It may be that they never get the chance since the other cat is always using it!     • Replacement parts cost double the price of the toy.

The toy is great. My cats love it. We switch out the attachments pretty regularly. However, we need to get a new wire and more attachments because my cats have played with it so much, they’ve destroyed most of it. The replacement parts literally cost double the price of the toy. I could buy two brand new toys for the same price. I wouldn’t have purchased this if I knew I couldn’t get the parts. I’m not going to purchase a new toy when ours works perfectly fine. It seems like an oversight and very wasteful on the manufacturer. Cats love it but I’d rather have a toy where I can get the parts at a reasonable price. ... show more

For the price, this is a steal if your cat is only interested in moving or noise-making toys. I’m disabled and don’t have the physical ability to play with my cat the way she wants to (shaking a feather on a stick around) all the time, but she’s not really into playing with a ball or anything like that. This toy seems to be perfect! She’s very interested in how it moves and loves to stalk it from under the table it’s next to. It actually fights back when grabbed sometimes due to how the motor operates, which is a joy for her. Plus, it seems to hold up well to biting and chewing, and the attachment system is very nice. My cat is absolutely bonkers for this toy! I originally got it for my kitten, but now my older cat is obsessed, too. He will drag it around to bring it into our room. The bells are a bit annoying after a while, but it comes with extra pieces that don't have bells, so it has options to change out the tops if your cats get bored.
