You can read extensive detail about the cable at the top of this page where the description of the oxygen free copper, the wiring twist, and the binding materials are described, but I can say myself that simply seeing these things in person will convince you of their quality. I am using mine with a Yamaha VX-3000 receiver connected to a Now Hear This (NHT) Super 8 subwoofer, and the bass just rolls out in smooth and uniform manner. I was so pleased that I had made the decision to upgrade to this cable for my subwoofer, because it simply is worth every penny, and actually, could be considered under priced for what you get. An integrated grounding wire is embedded within the sleeve of the cable in case your system picks up any hum, which can happen with subwoofer installations. In my case, there is no issue, and if you also do not experience this, you simply leave the y-shaped grounding plug disconnected. I was extremely concerned about spending 40 bucks on speaker wire but after buying a brand new powered Klipsch subwoofer I was experiencing a loud and increasingly annoying hum when the system was off. Tried a few methods to fix it including putting both the receiver and subwoofer on the same power strip with no luck. I plugged this in and it worked like a dream. Feedback issue was eliminated immediately. This was worth every penny. If you are spending on setting up a high end home theater do yourself a favor and don't skimp on the wire. Excellent build quality great craftsmanship. Built out of good material will serve the purpose for which it was made. However it is a total waste of money!!! This is just a glorified RCA cable. Solid core wire is just a marketing fad, in real life there is no improvement between solid core and stranded wire. Yes this has a ground wire attached, a ground wire which very few will ever need. If you do you could always just run your own ground wire. Don't bother buying this. Just use a standard RCA cable. Later you can add a ground cable if you actually need it. ... show more

    • Upgrade to speaker cable for sub, definitely!

I cannot swear on the properties of cables. And I have read a loooooooot about them! All I can say is that in my experience it brought out tighter cleaner faster bass out of my 15 year old Definitive Technology sub. I always considered the sub to be slow, kind of fat sounding, not responding the way I wanted. Even though not my ultimate subwoofer -a replacement will be around next year to take the whole new rig to same quality- the cable upgrade from speaker thick gauge braided runs to this solid one, made a difference as I described. The sub could give more, and it was not giving it because of former cables. I am happy about the upgrade. It is an obvious change. The kind of change U notice when u do not expect, when listening casually and finding a little smile in your face as evidence of a new surprising bass note U never got out of your sub before. If another cable by the competition at a similar price will do better, I cannot tell. I put AQ solids to all my speakers, and I like the natural crisp sound. And natural and crisp not always come together. In my new sub, I think the cable will show even more of...well, nothing in fact, which is what I want! If solid is better than braided, I cannot tell. But I wanted to believe..:-) ... show more

The ground connection eliminated a buzz that I had running a REL sub to my television. Good quality from Audioquest without going up market and breaking the bank. Starting to understand why some audiophiles spend dearly on cords.
