    • Best mic for spoken word!
This is a misunderstood microphone. We live in a world where 99.9% of all speakers, headphones, earbuds, amps etc. do not have a flat frequency response. Only REAL studio monitors do. People seem to think that if a microphone doesn't have a flat frequency response, it isn't any good. They can't even hear the mics with flat frequency responses due to 99.9% of speakers not being flat anyway so they look at frequency response charts. Most speakers are designed to exaggerate bass and people usually boost it even more with EQ so I find the added mids in this mic to be a wonderful change to help retain clarity with most people's awful setups and abysmal EQ. Even if you have hearing problems, a bad audio setup, awful EQ, a horrible untreated room, background noise, and music, the narrators voice will still shine. If you are looking for a microphone that is gorgeous, extremely well built inside and out, doesn't require a pop filter, has amazing clarity, good off axis noise rejection, will outlive you, and is specifically designed for spoken word (not singing or recording instruments etc.) Then this is the mic for you. I highly recommend picking up the shock mount as well. Just be aware that this is a specialty microphone that is specifically designed for spoken word and nothing more. It does one thing only but does it really well. A good compressor and noise gate bring this mic to a whole new level as well. Consistency is key in any audio setup and broadcast. ... show more

First off. I had been looking for a good quality microphone for a long time now and almost gave up hope. But when I found this one I was blown away. The sound quality is top notch and can compete with anything else out there by a landslide. I could go so far as to say not to go for anything less than this product. The value is definitely fair price for just how good the sound quality and material quality is. I immediately fell in love with this mic right out of the box. The frequencies at which this mic is set by default works PERFECT for my bassy voice. Extreme clarity, and does an amazing job at reducing background noise. The mic i owned before this was the Rode Broadcaster, which i also REALLY love, but as it's a condenser, it picks up ANY noise made in the vicinity of 20 miles lol. I've also owned the Shure SM7B, but the flatness of that mic doesn't work with my voice at all. I always ended up sounding too boomy or muffled. That's what i love about the BP40, is that i still sound like i'm using a very bright condenser mic, minus the background noise. This beats the AT2020 and AT2035! Doesn't pick up any noise and it's a directional mic. Comes with a very nice carrying case shipped very protective and very easy to set up. A must have for any radio/ broadcaster/ content creator. You may not like the price but it more then ever makes up for it in quality sound. Get this and you will not be disappointed. ... show more

Awesome microphone. Just buy it from the listing that reads "Amazon's Choice," not this one. I had to return the one I ordered here because they shipped it in the manufacturer's box and it took a beating before I got it. Probably not the best way to ship or handle an expensive piece of sound equipment. Anyhow, I've tested a few of the comparable dynamic mics like the HEIL PR40 and the SHURE SM7B. Bottom line, it boils down to personal preference and how you intend to use it. If it's for broadcasting, live streaming, podcasting or vocals, your voice will also play a part in which mic you will like the best. ... show more

I’m using the mic on a Kenwood TS-890 and it works well. Better gain than the Sm7B and RE320. No need for a big shock mount so it fits nice and compact on the boom arm.
