  • Very good setup.
I have had the scope for a few months now. I am very impressed with the scope and even more after the last firmware update. I have the matching rangefinder now which makes it even better. Range the target, and the range is sent to the scope. The scope then makes the range calculations. It helps if a person is tech savvy, but customer service is a great resource. The house in the picture is 550 yards. The pond in the field is 500 yards. ... show more

  • Not capable of sustained .308 Win recoil
This was mounted to my AR-10 chambered in .308 Win. The scope worked alright for the first three outings. The “One-Shot-Zero” is not entirely true, but by the fourth shot it was pretty decent. The fourth trip to the range was incredibly frustrating because it seems the recoil was enough to slowly loosen some internal component, resulting in a complete loss of accuracy. At 100 yards, where originally I could shoot 1” groupings without taking any time, I could no longer hold even an 8” group. Each shot seemed to move the reticle in a random direction. I then took the scope off and put my original iron sights back on, then shot a 5-shot, 1.5” group at 100yds (meaning the gun is not the problem). I suspect that, although ATN claims it is capable of .308 Win recoil, it was not thoroughly tested and is actually incapable of sustained use at this caliber. Very disappointed to have thrown $650 at what is now a fancy paper weight. Pros: -Night vision was actually very functional out to 150yds -Reticle options were decent -Soft blackout eyepiece made it easy to see the screen in daylight conditions Cons: -Duh - will not stand up to the recoil of my rifle’s caliber -Extremely heavy, especially for an optic that has to be used on such small caliber rifles -Battery muncher -Clunky UI, the menu is annoying to traverse when zeroing or changing modes -Zoom is purely digital past the base magnification level, making everything very pixelated and ultimately useless for accuracy beyond 150 (which is the only reason you should ever need to magnify up to 20x, so this was poorly thought out) I did not have the chance to expirement with the ballistic calculations and video functions. I mainly intended to use this for simple night hunting, but without any reliable accuracy this is useless to me now. This may work for smaller calibers, but I cannot recommend it for anything higher than .223 ... show more

  • Customer Service seems to not exist.
Well it has been about two months calling leaving messages and emailing with no return calls or emails from company. Right out of the box the scope locked up. Finally after several hard reboots got working again but when I try to use range finder locks up again as well as random lockups. Love the idea of the scope but wish they would get the bells and whistles they claim scope does working. Still waiting on customer service or a firmware update. Now it has been over 4 months and I was able to spark a reply from leaving negative comments on there Facebook page and they replied acting like they was taking care of my problem for me and then blocked me from posting. I found that out after several days waiting for them to do anything they said they was going to do to help. Do not take my word look at all the negative post on there Facebook page about this scope ... show more

  • Read before buying.
Pros: This scope had great functionality. Cons: This scope would not hold a zero. (I found out that after I mounted to to my Ar15, the scope base and scope, which are attached using two Phillips head screws, had backed out. I put some thread locker on the screws, torqued them down, and mounted it again. After 25 rounds, it did the same thing. Good luck contacting customer support. At the time this occurred, they had no telephone number to contact them. I emailed customer support and after one week, sent another email, and then the filling week with no response. Checked my spam folders and every other folder. I attempted to contact their sales department and was met with more red tape about service. In my opinion the weight of the scope, which is tremendous, is too much for two small screws on the base to adequately secure the mount to the gun. This is a design flaw that needs to be addressed by the manufacturer, yet they are still continuing to sell this product. Who knows. I may have got the lemon, but I couldn’t even reach anyone at atn for any answers, despite numerous attempts. I paid $700 for the 5-20. I ended up zip tying it to a camera mount and using it as a spotting scope. I ended up selling it for $200 to a friend. He was not able to get ahold of atn either. I guess you get what you pay for. I would not buy this product again and would not recommend any other customers buy this product because you will have no support for your product if an issue arises. ... show more

  • Don’t waste your money, go with 3-14 or generational NV
This scope works very well with IR illuminator. After one shot if the wind isn’t blowing, you won’t get a follow up shot. The IR reflects off of the gas and blinds the scope. I shot with friends that had the 3-14 model, they were able to see without illumination on the same night (half moon very clear). The two of us with 5-20 models could barely make out a pig. I recommend using medium sensitivity to reduce the lag, but go with the 3-14 model or generaltional night vision. Don’t waste your money on this scope. Returning mine today. Only positive about the scope is when I took my first shot to try to zero the scope.. it was 1.5” high at 100 over the center of the target... talk about luck. ... show more
