Description

Clickit Sport car harness is packed with state-of-the-art technology that makes it light and easy to use without sacrificing safety. Sleepypod's patented Infinity Loop webbing design works with a broad, padded vest to distribute and reduce damaging forces that can cause injury. There are three points of contact to reduce forward and lateral movement in the event of a collision or sudden stop. Crash-tested at U.S., Canadian, and E.U. child safety standards, then independently tested and certified with a 5 Star safety rating from the Center for Pet Safety. Outside of the car, it can be used as a walking harness. Reflective strips offer improved visibility at night. Clickit Sport has been proven in independent testing by the Center for Pet Safety to be one of the safest car harnesses in an auto collision.

  • One of very few brands independently tested
Size: Large Color: Strawberry Red
Once you get the sizing adjusted properly, these are pretty easy to put on. (Well, you have to get your dog used to them too!) About 8 years ago, this was the only brand of dog harnesses that passed independent testing, which is why I've been buying them. I'm not sure if other brands have passed the testing since then. If your dog will sit on the car seat, it's very easy to buckle your dog into the car - you just run the seatbelt through a couple of loops on the sides of the harness. Two of my dogs have been floppers, where they insist on lying down. The harness is much harder to buckle in with them because you have to find a way to get the seatbelt under the dog and then hook it. No plastic parts to break. Mine even came with clips you can put on your seatbelt to keep it at the proper length - a great feature if you don't have people that need to sit in the back seat. Fortunately I've never had to put them to the test to see if they work, but I feel confident that they'd keep my dog secure in the case of a wreck. ... show more

  • Sizing seems wrong
The product is very good but the sizing does not match the measurements I took using the instructions. I have two size Large that will not fit because they are too big around the neck/chest even at the tightest adjustment. I recommend purchasing directly from the manufacturer so that you can get an exchange. I’m stuck with two I can’t use or return. Also, it is a bit difficult to adjust but once done you should not have to do it again. It’s also a little awkward to put on until you get accustomed to it. I recommend using the instructional videos. ... show more

  • A Reliable Harness
Size: Small Color: Robin Egg Blue
I actually have two of these harnesses. One for my big dog and one for my smaller dog. I like them a lot. I’ll go ahead and start by saying I’ve been in two car accidents with my roughly 50 pound dog in this harness and she’s been totally fine. So I can say they do work in car accidents. The personality of the dog does have some effect on the harness, though. My bigger dog is calmer, so she sits very well with the harness. She doesn’t try very hard to move. My smaller dog has a lot more energy and a lot more anxiety. So sometimes she’ll try to spin in place with the harness on, and has tangled herself in the seatbelt a couple of times. Meaning, I have to stop and pull over to fix her. However, the more she wears it in the car, the more she learns not to do that. My big dog actually freaks out a bit if she doesn’t have the harness on now. I think, in addition to providing the safety in the case of an accident, it gives her more of a sense of stability. She feels safe and secure because she’s stable in the seat instead of wobbling the way a dog that’s not buckled in does. The harness is also very simple and easy to put on. And I’ve never had a problem running the seatbelt through the straps the way it’s supposed to. I actually really like that this harness relies on the car seatbelts instead of hooking it to something in the car like other car, safety harnesses. My biggest complaint is that I frequently have to re-tighten it. Both of my dogs pull and it will make the straps slip a little loose. I have actually had both dogs, loosen it enough to pull it over their head and slip out. So I don’t think it’s great for walking and I do think you have to keep an eye on the straps. I know that sounds a little counterintuitive since it’s a car, safety harness, but I think it might be on purpose. There has to be a little bit of so that the straps don’t actually hurt the bones in an event of the accident. It lens with a sharp jerk. More constant pressure. ... show more

  • Odd design; Ruffwear Load Up harness seems way better
Size: Medium Color: Orange Dream
I've read a zillion reviews of crash-tested safety harnesses for dogs, and I own the Ruffwear Load Up harness, which fits my springer spaniel perfectly. I wanted to see what this Clickit harness was like, thinking it might be a good multipurpose harness for a long road trip I have coming up. Nope! Honestly, for almost ninety bucks, this harness seems WAY less well designed than the Load Up, and is clearly way less rugged. The biggest problem with the Clickit is that the straps seem like they're sewn on with the wrong side up--all the parts that would rub or scratch are on the side facing the dog's body, potentially causing sores or matts. At first I thought maybe the straps on this harness had just gotten twisted, but there's no way to flip them without causing a big lumpy mess (a new problem!) over the dog's breastbone. My other complaint about this harness is that although the padded (front) part of the harness seems like it wouldn't cause damage in a crash, the straps themselves seem flimsy. You need width and strength to withstand a crash without cutting into your dog (or breaking). Speaking of that, the packaging says "Guaranteed for 45 lbs" on the front--something that would've kept me from buying this for my 48-pound dog had I known it up front!! Grrr. Last complaint: Although I'm good at figuring out dog harnesses (dog trainer for 15 years), this thing is super confusing and the instructions are mostly cute illustrations rather than informative text. AT LEAST tell customers where to go watch a video of how to get this thing hooked up properly--both for comfort and safety. I really wanted to like this harness, but I feel like Sleepypod tried to create a hybrid of a legit safety harness and a lighter-weight harness for everyday use, and ended up with neither. There is absolutely NO comparison between this and the Load Up harness, which would CLEARLY protect a dog better in a crash. My only complaint about the Load Up harness is the slightly tricky (at first) nesting buckles, which I understand they're replacing in August 2021. I'll stick with the Load Up, both for my dog's comfort and his safety. It might be a little bulkier, but I'm confident the Load Up could save my dog's life, unlike the Clickit. (By the way, my dog generally travels in a Ruffland kennel, but since we're heading on a long road trip, I thought it might be nice to have a seatbelt harness as an option.) ... show more
