  • really good - just what I was looking for
ok, this atlas is certainly good - if its on our globe its in this atlas (which is what I needed) - now some areas are more detailed in what is covered and others not as much - meaning north america/united states and europe areas have more detailed mapping information and data while other parts of our world - for example cambodia - are well covered although with some bit less detail (sufficient yet less exhaustive) - its information easily referenced because its in print in hand - more information is of course available on the internet - having this in hand and easy to reference in print source is certainly a good value ... show more

  • The Gold Standard
The Oxford Atlas of the World is as good as it gets. Great information sections and up-to-date maps make it a reliable source of information of many sorts. Plus you get a good workout lifting it. Highly recommend! LATER UPDATE: I have noticed a few flaws. Working in Kenya, I found several towns listed in the index that did not appear on the actual map. That was frustration. Also, as others have noted, the map colors can interfere with the printed place names. Also frustrating. Still, it's Oxford. Lucky to have it. ... show more

  • Outstanding and beautiful book
This is a great atlas. I can spend hours looking through the pages or just a minute to find a specific map.

  • Great atlas with a couple of flaws
So I’m very much impressed overall with this. That being said, I have two issues with it: 1). It is *very* difficult to discern between national and internal boundaries. 2). Chunks of continents are the only items displayed; as a result, one must consult multiple pages to cover individual countries over a certain size. ... show more

  • Best Atlas
I decided to spend a few bucks on a good up-to-date atlas so I can better track world events and trends. This Oxford Atlas is the best one out there, and includes much useful information in addition to maps. I now consult it often, it's become an indispensable reference...I keep it handy so I can consult it while watching the news. It's a beautiful book and well worth the small investment. ... show more

  • Really the best Atlas out there!
A wonderfully organized and illustrated Atlas! Very complete! I would recommend it to anyone who wants the best atlas out there!

  • More than just an atlas!
The maps of continents, countries, cities, and oceans are outstanding, but the atlas is also a wealth of information on flags, climate, minerals, pollution, and much more. It’s about 15x11, and is very heavy.
