This unit is built with quality materials, thick walls, robust bulkhead, and sturdy shelf. I installed with a cascade directly into the pond and use a 4200 GPH pump which produces a nice curtain over the 19" weir. The pond is 6000 gallon and I have two Helix skimmers that feed into the pump for this filter fall. I used lava rock as the filter media and put lemon bacopa in the top. Make sure you install with approx. 1/2" tilt back to front. Mine is level and the plants obstruct the flow some which causes the water level at the back to be to close to spilling over. We have to check weekly to make sure the plants aren't causing a leak. Great bio filter action. Very happy with the Bahama filter fall. ... show more

We're using this currently for our pond waterfall, and it's working wonderfully. It needs to be sitting on a firm platform of some type and leveling is critical. The hose from the filter connects to the lower back of the unit, and pumps through a bag of lava rocks. We have a large 2 inch thick flat piece of slate sitting on top and the unit does not show any signs of buckling. ... show more

This is a very large filter fall and is producing very clear water on my 600 gallon Koi pond. you can stuff about 5 gallons of bio media in the bucket along with the two filter pads provided with the unit. I'm running 1000+ GPH and it produces a nice waterfall.

They send youu a bulkhead fitting that is bigger than a 2.5 inches but smaller than 3inches. Pretty much useless Chinese junk.
