The media could not be loaded. So this does not hold the larger old fashion sized DVD cases . for the maximum fit. It holds the shorter blue ray DVD’s for the max fit. This is a problem because I have a mix of both. We have a lot of DVDs, and these were for specifically for my favorites, my anime, and animated ones. As you can see, I had to put the ones in the bottom facing down awkwardly. I also was able to add more shelving by gluing some inserts (created out of XPS foam and hot glued). So I I could change the shelf heights as there were no holes that lined up. This is such a thin shelf, so I didn’t feel confident about putting in screws in this as I would a normal shelf to adjust the wood height. In a deeper shelf with the same design, the shelves are heavy enough to sit firmly on the little pegs. However, the shelf is so shallow, (which is fine for DVDs), but these shelves pop up very easily off the pegs and just trying to take a DVD off the shelf or in barely touching it, which would knock all the DVDs down. I found I had to hot glue everything down so it would stop doing that. Now that I’ve made this adjustment I am satisfied with it. I do wish it could’ve been less expensive given the materials and issues, but it fits perfectly in a space with high traffic area and I needed a really shallow shelf. (In comparison, I bought three wooden shelves, all wood , twice as tall, very sturdy for less than the price of this little shelf.) ... show more

    • A great product, when built correctly and installed correctly.

Firstly, I own this product and find it wonderful. It is one of the only storage solutions I've found that can hold the kinds of games that I own, and have such a large capacity/ability to change what kind of games and sizes it can hold. That being said, the construction of these is somewhat problematic... At one point they want you install the backing board (which is vital for the stability and straightness/square-build) of the product, with the lower lip jutting out, which places a lot of stress of the joints in the middle that join the bottom and top halves. What I've found that works is to install the bottom plate, and stand the unit upright. Have someone hold the unit in place while you nail/hammer in the little nails into the backing board into the back of the shelving unit. It has worked great for me. Secondly, absolutely mount these into the wall, into a stud, into anything. Freestanding they aren't bad... but I can't imagine installing these on any kind of carpet without having them anchored to something. If you apply the back correctly and if you stabilize the unit to the wall (and maybe even reinforce it in a few places?), these are fantastic for the price. Oh, also... there is a lot of Styrofoam in the box, some of which is very thin and breaks apart into an infinite supply of little styrofoam boogers that I continue to find a year after I built these lol ... show more

    • Perfectly Functional but Cheap Parts

This shelf is perfect for my game collection. It's got plenty of shelves and adjustable configurations to make everything look really nice. I'm very happy to have everything in one place and displayed well. Beware of cheap parts. I've put a lot of furniture together over the years often much more complex than this piece and haven't had as many issues with any one piece as I did this one. It's easy to put together on paper and almost simple enough to ignore the instructions but all of the locking mechanisms failed to lock in place correctly. At first I thought I was doing something wrong, double checking the instructions, but I've used these types before and they aren't supposed to be this difficult. They are poorly constructed and don't function as intended. The holes to line up the backing boards were not all the way through and could only be seen from the wrong side forcing guess work when nailing them in. Due to the failed locking pieces and the guess work with the nail holes I wasn't able to fit everything together as intended creating a small gap in the connecting boards leaving an imperfect finished build. This isn't a piece I'd put in my front room for those reasons. Overall for the price and function it's a decent solution for a large collection and a perfect example of "you get what you pay for". ... show more
