    • Missing Parts-The Foot Boards-Update
Okay, I expected possible delays in shipping due to the pandemic, two day shipping turned into 10 day shipping. However, I ordered two of these beds, should have been eight boxes in all, only received six boxes. From my reading of the reviews, this is a common issue. Neither of the beds showed up with the 4th box that contains the foot board. I am using these in a finished loft and do not want head boards; however, without the foot boards, the beds are totally useless. I could build one bed using the tall legs from the second bed and build the other bed with the short legs and skip the trundle, but I shouldn't have to! I contacted Atlantic Furniture Customer Service, only to receive a person that answered the phone like they were at their house, sipping on a Mai Tai "hello". I was informed that their customer service was unavailable due to the pandemic. I tried to reach out to Amazon via customer service email, but there isn't one. I called Amazon customer service and received a recorded message that they too are unavailable due to the pandemic. Come on Amazon, if you can still ship items, you can manage your customer service!!!!!!! So basically, I'm SOL for the time being or I will have to be creative and build and try to match the stain of the foot boards, or I can mix and match the two beds to build three. Pretty frustrated to say the least and would recommend not ordering this item, at least until the Company is back at work, at a minimum! Update: the following evening, one of the two foot boards arrived. Still no word on the second one. Since there are four individual boxes, each box should have a separate tracking number.     • Excellent value for the price, excellent finish, solid wood. About 2 hours to assemble. Use short mattress for trundle.
The positives: This is solid wood (rubberwood, which comes from latex trees which have reached the end of their productive lives). The wood has a wonderful sheen, I was very impressed with the finish. It looks much more expensive than the cost would indicate. Assembly is reasonably straightforward. It took me about 2 hours by myself to assemble the bed and trundle. Extra parts were provided and a whole bunch of allen wrenches. Value for cost is excellent, pleasantly surprised to find all wood, no particle board and everything fit together smoothly. The negatives: When it arrived an entire box was missing. I called and the missing parts were sent, it took another week or so. The woman at Cymax was helpful and did communicate with me about what was going on. However, if I had not realized that there were supposed to be four boxes it would have been much longer until the bed was ready for assembly. Other info: You will want a power screwdriver for screwing the slats onto the bed. The rest assembles with an allen wrench (provided). You need a fairly short mattress (max maybe 7.5 inches) for the trundle, especially if you want to leave bedding on it. The trundle does not slide all the way under, the “drawer” overlaps the outside of the bed. There are two notches in the top to make it easy to grab to pull out. Only one end is closed off. The other end is open, so with a trundle, consider your placement in the room. It appears that you can order a headboard separately, but not the short closed one that comes with this. It comes with two sets of legs (tall and short) but with the trundle you need to use the “tall”. Everything you see is finished. The slats and parts of the trundle are unfinished wood. ... show more

Delivered in four boxes. No scratches, scuffs, or other damage. A big thank you to the reviewer who mentioned two different sets of legs based on trundle usage. Saved us from major headache. Also, if using with trundle, legs must be offset from center. I think overlooking this detail caused some bad reviews. My 15 year old son assembled it by himself with the tools it came with in about two hours. I highly recommend power tools if possible. A couple of bolts wallowed out a bit, and by the time he finished, the wrench looked like it had been chewed. The bed looks great. Sturdy enough for son, friend, and dog to pile in together, which amounts to about 300 lbs total. No groans or squeaks. Doesn't wiggle or sway. He did not screw down the slats to the bed frame because the finger (comb) joints in the piece of wood that supports the slats weren't perfect. One side had shorter fingers than the other, leaving small triangular voids. Son didn't really want to fight with the screws, I think. On the trundle, two of the threaded sleeves began working their way out of the wood as he turned the bolts. Not enough to cause problems, and easily remedied with a pair of pliers while turning bolts. Trundle does not close flush to side board of frame, but if it did, you wouldn't be able to access the finger grips to pull trundle out. So there is a lip of overlap where the trundle meets the bed. Not a problem for us. Small issues, but I almost spent double the amount on a similar bed that didn't look as nice as this one. Very pleased overall. ... show more

It took my husband several hours to put together. There are plenty of slats, no need to buy more and they screw into the frame. Seems sturdy enough for an average adult. We will be using it in our flex room for guests and lounging. What I don’t understand is why they wouldn’t provide end covering for both ends? There is only a finished panel on one of the short ends. If you use the bed in a corner your good if not it looks incomplete. We will be making a cover for the other end. ... show more

I was worried this was going to be flimsy and difficult to assemble but gladly I was completely wrong. The provided instructions were clear and easy to follow. It came in several boxes but that is what made it so easy to assemble. Each box was labeled and had its own instructions. The item itself, once assemble was sturdy and was in excellent condition.
