Used on a FX air rifle and it works perfect. Could be used on a 22 and even a center caliber. The adjustment for parallax is very good from 10 yards to infinity. Would definitely recommend. The only negative is the turrets. They are not precise meaning it doesn’t stop directly on zero. If you don’t mind that then this scope is a great price and well worth the price. This comparing to higher priced scopes in the 500-700 price range. It is very clear glass and love that is light weight.

Put on my gauntlet 2 air rifle and it has been exceptional optics so far. clear glass easy to adjust with great magnification. Solid turrets with returnable zero adjustments. Pairs with my Rangecraft chrono and app well!

Excellent glass for the money

Excellent glass for the money. Great power range. Clear optics. Power ring and turrets neither too hard nor too easy to operate. I put it on a bolt action 308 hunting rifle. I used medium rings. There were some problems mounting it. The tube was too short to mount on the 1 pc. picatinny type base I was using so I had to modify the forward end of the base to clear the ocular bell. Then the nitrogen purge/fill tube below the turrets is very large and prevented the scope from being mounted because of the mounting slots. So I got out my dremel again to modify that. Finally the knob on the power ring was interfering with the bolt handle so I filed down the knob as well as the bolt handle until it cleared. If you have no experience making these sort of modifications I would advise taking the rig to a gunsmith. After I completed the modifications I was very happy. I zeroed at 200 yds. (about min. of angle groups) and will use the mil dots if longer shots are necessary. I am happy with my new pseudo tactical bolt action 308.

Better than Vortex? Yes it is!!!

I recently purchased this scope to mount on my Tikka t1x in .22lr. The glass is clear and the eye relief is great. I typically shoot this gun at 50 and 100 yards and I can see bullet holes easy at 12 power. After 2000 round it holds zero perfectly. The mildot reticle is great and very helpful for referencing the drop of the .22lr rounds. Parallax works great also. I have a few Vortex diamondback tactical rifle scopes and a couple other Athlon scopes and for the money spent I can say the Athlon scopes are better both in glass and overall quality of the scopes build construction. I know a lot of people that compare these two brand since they are close in price and in features but I can say that if your looking at both Id buy the Athlon. In my opinion it just nicer in every way and i mean in glass, tracking, parallax adjustment, turrets, and overall build construction. I hope this helps someone.

Great glass, nice features- awesome price!

I can’t think of a better scope for the money. It’s not uncommon for the optics to approach or even exceed the price of what you are mounting it on now days. I do own two scopes that are better than this one, at a similar size and magnification but I also paid WAY more for them- this one is more than adequate with coated lenses and a super clear and crisp view. It took me a short time to sight in, and holds zero well. The “tracking” when you turn the turrets x number of clicks up, down, left, or right is good but off about a 1/4 mil at 50 yards.....which in my opinion is OUTSTANDING for a scope in this price range and I have seen worse for more expensive scopes made by Luepold and Vortex- albeit they were older models but still.... The removal option on the turrets to allow you to zero the shots and set the point of impact at a given distance, then place the dials on the turrets to read “zero” is nice! Side focus on a scope at less than $300, with lenses this clear, and a mildot reticule is hard to find. I would definitely recommend this scope to anyone looking for a clear view at a great price, that also offers a few other nice features.....A+

I really wanted to like it

I’ve only ever had Vortex scopes previously, and I was looking for a budget lightweight scope for my new 22. I’ve read some good reviews on Athlon and decided to give them a try. On paper, the specs seemed like everything I wanted. So I went ahead and bought this along with the Vortex Diamondback 2-7 to compare (although the 3x9 or 4x12 version would probably have been a closer comparison). Upon unboxing the 2 side by side, at first I thought it would be no competition. The Vortex came in a small, cheap looking box that looked like something you’d get at a flea market to use on an air soft gun. While the Athlon came in very nice box like you’d expect to see with a more expensive optic. But unfortunately, after looking over the two side by side, even just unmounted around the house, there’s no comparison. The Diamondback absolutely blows it out of the water. The only pro the TALOS has over the Diamondback is that the turrets knobs are more tactical, and it has a parallax adjustment. Other than that, it loses everywhere else. The Vortex’s glass is nice and bright, and has a very easy to find eye box with very large FOV. When looking through it, it looks like you are looking through a 3in PVC pipe. The Athlon glass on the other hand has a slight yellowish tint to it, and the eye box is tricky to find, especially at higher magnifications. If you aren’t perfectly in it, you see some strange internal reflections on the outside of your sight picture instead of the typical black shadow like most scopes. The FOV is also very narrow, and the picture is very deep in the scope. So when looking through it you see a LOT of the inner tube, and it looks like you are looking through a narrow 1in PVC pipe. The main features that attracted me to the Athlon were the increased magnification and parallax adjustment. However, even though the Vortex Diamondback 2-7 isn’t exactly in the same magnification range, I can confidently say that you are much better off getting it instead of the 3-15 TALOs. The higher magnifications on this scope are so unusable and the FOV is so narrow that I’d much rather just use the Vortex 2-7 at max power. I can’t speak for the Diamondback 3-9 and 4-12 models, but if they are anything like this 2-7 they will be better scopes as well.

Wonderful Scope.

I originally purchased the Vortex Crossfire 2 3-9x40 for the same price as this Athlon. Thing is this Athlon leaves that Vortex sitting in the dust at the same price. I was not impressed in the least with the Vortex. The turrets sucked. Flat out sucked, in that they were super mushy and inaudible clicks. Specially the elevation turret. The one thing I was impressed with on the Vortex was the eye relief, it was very forgiving. The Athlon, very nice turrets, you can both feel and hear them and know exactly where you are without even looking at them. The glass is very clear @ this price point and beyond. The Parallax adj at this price point is phenomenal to say the least. Yes it is a little stiff to turn but that's a great feature and NOT a downside in my eyes on a hunting scope. Would not want to rub it on a tree and turn it. The magnification adjustment is not as stiff as the parallax but feels perfect for me. I have not tracked the turrets a lot but I did do a simple 15 click box test and it returned to zero every time for 3-4 times. Overall the scope is built like a tank and I am very happy with it.

Nice scope

This is a really nice scope for the money. It is mounted on a 10-22 target and it wrings out every bit of accuracy and is not too big or small for a rifle this size. The parallax adjustment is a bit stiff but not so much to be a problem and the power ring is about right. Most importantly the lenses are very clear and remain clear all settings.
