  • Great computer, great value
My laptop that recently broke was about 9 years old, so my standards may be pretty low, but this thing is so much faster, lighter, and quieter than my my old one. I looked quickly on Dell's website and they wanted about 3x as much money as this one cost for a similar product. My old one was a Dell and it lasted a long time, so we'll see about the longevity, but I'm willing to bet this one will last at least 3 years, so it's a very good value. My only complaints are small ones about the keyboard. I'm a programmer, and the Home, End, PgUp and PgDn buttons are very useful in programming. My old laptop had these placed by themselves in the upper right of the keyboard, but on this laptop, they're along the row of the function keys, so they're pretty well impossible to find by touch. The labels on the keys also are white on silver, so very difficult to see, especially in low light or in the glare of the screen. The other thing is that the special keys (volume, screen brightness, etc.) are difficult to use. They're the same button as the F1-F10 buttons, which is standard, and you access these with a Fn key at the bottom close to the space bar, also standard. On my old laptop, you just held the Fn key and pressed the F1-10 button to use the special function, but on this one, you have to first enable the function key with Fn+Esc and then it works? It's confusing--the symbology makes it look like once you press Fn+Esc it should "lock" it in special mode so pressing the F1-10 key without pressing Fn would use the special function, but it doesn't work that way. I think I'll get used to it, but it's weird. All in all, I'm very satisfied. I may buy an external keyboard or number pad to help me with programming, though. ... show more

  • Incredible Machine
Capacity: 20GB RAM | 1TB SSD
This is amazing. Large screen, lots of memory, great RAM, fast processor, back lit keyboard. Amazing price. The only negative is the very poor packing job for shipping. It was a box in a bigger box, loose. Nothing to cushion it. Stunning.

  • Good general purpose laptop
Capacity: 20GB RAM | 1TB SSD
It might be helpful to know my expectations for this laptop if you are trying to decide whether to purchase this. I have had the same laptop for roughly 8 years. I only use it for keeping documents, research, internet, and basic Office use. I am not tech savvy or using this for gaming or heavy duty use. So far, the laptop is good. It is fast enough for using Chrome with roughly a dozen tabs open, Spotify, Word, and pictures running without a huge delay in processing power. The screen is good and clear enough to read without straining. For my needs, the storage space is almost endless. This would be different if I used the laptop for gaming, though. Setup was simple. I am disappointed with two physical aspects. 1, the keyboard is not backlit, nor is there strong contrast between the keyboard and keys. The second issue is the relatively small charge cable. These are mostly small issues. Overall this is a good general use laptop. ... show more

  • Nice pc but READ the details CAREFULLY
Capacity: 20GB RAM | 1TB SSD
This is a nice pc but READ the details CAREFULLY. The title combines several DIFFERENT pc specs (HD size, keyboard light, etc.) This one has a 1 TB HDD but no backlit keyboard. It's a great little machine but it runs Windows 11 HOME, which means you have to create/log in to a Microsoft account to start. Wifi is fast, as is the Bluetooth for earbuds, mouse or external keyboard. ... show more

  • Great Laptop, Great Price On Amazon. BUY NOW
I love everything about this laptop. 17.3 screen. Beautiful look. Slim. Windows 11. Lit Keyboard is so cool. The price on Amazon right now can save you quite a bit of dollars. Excellent support from ASUS. Excellent support from Amazon. There is nothing I can say but great ... about this laptop. Why pay to upgrade to Windows 11 when you get this for Amazon's price? If I could give more stars I would. The only thing missing is a touch screen and I, personally, never use that option. I'm going to also review an incredible leather hand made bag that I acquired to use with this Laptop from Amazon. I'm once again styling, and loving updated technology. ... show more

  • Backlit Keyboard is fantastic, Very fast refresh on internet usage
Nice Keyboard and the backlit helps me being older with diminished eyesight. SSD drive in very nice compared to hard drive. It's quiet and doesn't get hot. Processor is more than enough for my usage in surfing the net and doing email. Screen is sharp. Takes a bit to get used to Windows 11 but has been fine after 6 different Win updates in the first 30 days. I'd buy again. ... show more

  • Not backlit
Capacity: 20GB RAM | 1TB SSD
The laptop I received does not have backlit functionality. This model is X712JA. Description is wrong. Hitting FN key and F7 key should light up keyboard but it does not. Hitting FN and ESC and F7 should light up keyboard but does not. I called ASUS and after a very painful conversation of over an hour, could not get keyboard to light up. Note the F7 key does not have an icon on it, its blank. Than she says I need to update drivers. No I do not need to update drivers on a new laptop so I decided to end the conversation and send the laptop back to amazon. Note the ASUS website does not list a F712JA, just a F712J. The F712JA I received does NOT have a backlit keyboard according to ASUS website. I cannot see the keyboard period. How they can sell a laptop with keys you cannot see is beyond me. Quite disgusted at this point. We will buy another brand. Seller says laptop manufactured in 10/2022, the laptop we received was manufactured on 1/2021. ... show more

  • For the price, it can't be beat. Full stop.
First off, you get what you paid for. However, there are times when you get far more than you pay for and that was the situation with these. I bought 3 for my children. Of course, there are a couple caveats: The battery lasts for 2 hours as it is a powerhouse and light computer. It's not a gaming computer though. We have absolutely no complaints and customer support got right back to us as I had to call and see if this was a legit deal as the price was so low and I couldn't afford the time to return it with Christmas so near. ... show more
