  • a little coil whine on start-up. You need the wifi antenna for the bluetooth
Style: Z790-A|DDR5|WiFi 6E Pattern: Motherboard
I started with a AMD build from a Black Friday sale and had the AMD version of this board (I forget the number). While I loved that board, I just couldn't live with the 30-45 second start-up due to the memory "training" on every power up. I returned that board and cpu and bought the Intel version (this board). It is a beautiful board in function and aesthetics. Everything is great except there is a 6 second coil from the port area while when I first power the board. I can live with that because it goes away as soon as the drivers load. I almost freaked out because I couldn't get my Bluetooth to work. After a reddit search I learned that the Wifi antenna must be plugged in to get bluetooth. I'm not a fan of that, because I have Lan and the antenna adds clutter. But, I'll try to live with it. I still give the board 5 stars for the performance and functionality. I am not sure what to think about the Armoury Crate bloatware. For now, I am running without it. ... show more

  • Great motherboard with 14th gen support out of the box
Style: Z790-A|DDR5|WiFi 7 Pattern: Motherboard
Beautiful motherboard that works great with a white build. Built in LED is great quality and motherboard has a fair number of aRGB connections. Worked with my i714700k out of the box with no bios update, though I was also able to easily update it anyways. Bios is easy to navigate and overclocking is also relatively simple. The only negative I would say is the motherboard only has one usb 3.0 connection so if your pc case has multiple usb 3.0 connections you will need to get a pcie usb 3.0 expansion. The motherboard also has a gpu release button which is convenient for larger gpus. My build has a GeForce Aero OC 4090 side mounted which worked flawlessly with this motherboard as well. Another great benefit is the pcie lanes do not get bottlenecks by connecting extra M.2 drives or expansion cards. Motherboard has gen 4 M.2 but not gen5 ... show more

  • It's a great board
Style: Z790-A|DDR5|WiFi 7 Pattern: Motherboard
The Asus z790a strix ddr5 board has been great for my son's pc. The last time I built a computer was for my oldest son, with a z390 series board, and this one was so much easier. The assurance of having bios flashback available was nice, knowing I'd need to update the bios. That went smoothly. Even overclocking with AI overclocking is so much easier. Getting the z390 build with a 9600k to run a stable 4.8-5.0 ghz was a chore. This one is running a 14600k at 5.9ghz with just a couple of clicks. It's been a great board to build and play around with. Zero complaints and my kids is happy. ... show more

  • First build
Style: Z790-A|DDR5|WiFi 7 Pattern: Motherboard
First time building a computer from the ground up. The board was easy to use and install. Have wifi drivers ready on thumb drive for a easier Windows install. Wifi is super fast lots of space and options for expansion. While it doesn't support gen 5 m2 s it does exceed at everything else. A beast for gaming and a great board for the money. ... show more

  • Should be awesome, but received DOA board.
Style: Z790-A|DDR5|WiFi 7 Pattern: Motherboard
Bought this MB back in July to build myself a new gaming computer. Unfortunately it took me a few months to save up for a GPU, but my 4070 TI Super arrived so finally able to set it up. I love the white look which goes perfectly with my white case, and white AIO water cooler. Plenty of I/O ports and built in WiFi are nice. I also like that it has 5 NVMe spots for plenty of storage. The GPU quick release is also very nice. Now for the bad. The MB I was shipped appears to be DOA. I got everything installed, and powered it up. The fans kick on, MB shows it’s getting power with the troubleshooting LEDs, it passes the CPU check, RAM check, Video check, but then gets stuck on the green ‘boot’ LED, and goes no farther. The monitor powers on so it gets a signal, but absolutely nothing appears on screen. No ASUS splash screen, nor does it load into BIOS. So I removed everything and reseated every cable and component to try again. Same thing, stops on the green ‘boot’ LED. So then I tried an i5 CPU with built in graphics, and removed the graphics card (this will rule out the GPU as the issue, and also the Power Supply since it’s using 1/2 the wattage without the beefy GPU), same issue. Tried 2 other sticks of RAM, and 3 other NVMe SSDs to make sure those components were not the issue, same issue. I’ve started the RMA process with ASUS, so I will report back after that process to let everyone know how their customer support is, how long the RMA process takes, and if they are able to resolve the issue. Hoping to come back with good news, and hopefully bump up the star rating, as this should be an amazing board once it is working. ***Update- sent the motherboard back to ASUS, and they found the issue, but want to charge me an extra $45 to fix it. I sent an appeal, but I cannot recommend anything made by the company if they want to rip off customers, to fix their own mistakes.*** ... show more
