I used this for gaming a photo editing for a few months and it started crashing on games and slowing down. I had to send it to Asus for warranty and they sent me this message below. This seller uses poor quality 3rd party parts. Avoid this! Just by direct from Asus. Our team received your unit during testing the device also crashed. The attempted to complete a ADT test for each component and they received errors for both the memory and SSD. Which would indicate they are causing the failures/crashes. The reason why you were sent a quotation to replace the RAM/ memory and SSD is due to these components being 3rd party. 3rd party mean these were not the original/OEM parts installed inside the laptop by us and they were changed after the device left our factory/warehouse. Our warranty terms only covers the original/OEM parts and components we install in our products. ... show more

    • Fast laptop, looks great, learning curve to get Radeon 6200m to be used
I got this laptop mostly because my i7 powerhouse desktop died last year and I needed a new computer to replace it. I also wanted to switch to a laptop since one use case I have is astrophotography and being able to process hundreds of photos while on the road. This one came up with a "Used - Like New" offer at a price I could not pass up. Out of the box the laptop looks great. Runs incredibly fast. I just helped a friend sort out his Lenovo Ideapad so I basically setup 2 different laptops a day apart. The Lenovo was like any of my other laptops and took a couple of hours to do all the Windows updates, etc. This ROG Strix went through the same process in about 15 mins. On the exact same ethernet cable the Lenovo was on. Windows setup was smooth and I was able to install all my photography related software in near record time. I ran a hardware check and see that the memory slot occupied has the 32G of RAM and the 2nd slot is free. As well as the SSD 2nd slot is free. So I ordered the parts to boost it to 64G RAM and a 2nd 2TB SSD. I haven't played any games on it yet but I hooked it up to one of my desktop 32" screens and at full resolution it looks beautiful. Figuring out how to get Windows to use the Radeon RX 6800m instead of the built in card. NVidia had it easy with the control panel. I can't seem to find the same in the AMD world. I did see where I could assign in the Windows Display settings to set it up for each app. I'll have to try that out and see how it works out. My only minor gripe is does this catch and hold onto fingerprints. Comes off easy enough with a wipe but each and every time I use it more fingerprints. So I keep wiping it down. Did not come with a 32Gb SD card either. But I have plenty. ... show more

    • Auto shutdowns
Product started shutting down randomly 6 months after purchasing, im guessing there is a battery issue that is happening here, i truly however love the product, if i could get a replacement battery sent to me and it fixes the auto shutdown issue then i will update review, otherwise i dont reccomend the product due to you only get 6 months of use before it craps out. ... show more
