  • Excellent ergonomics and seamless wired/wireless performance on Linux
Pattern Name: 36000 DPI Style: Wireless Color: White
I'm using this mouse full-time on Arch Linux for gaming, art and design. I really like the textured sides since they provide good grip and the shape is ergonomic for my hands (right-handed). For reference, my previous mouse was a Logitech G403 Hero wired. As a varying claw/palm grip user who enjoyed the shape and size profile of the G403, I find I'm enjoying the Gladius III quite a bit more. I think the side texture and better shaped right side of the mouse make it a lot easier to grip regardless of task. My primary reason to switch away from Logitech mice is that I've had 7 various Logitech mice break in 7 years. It always came down to double-clicking issues or broken scroll wheels. Unacceptable to the degree that they've permanently lost my business. Since I've had so many subpar Logitech mice break from regular usage, budget was not a factor and any price-point was acceptable to get a durable mouse. I went with ASUS because of the replaceable switches rated at 70 million clicks. They have a qualified vendors document on their website that lists compatibility with Omron and Kailh for the Gen 2 push fit sockets this mouse has. Here's the current list of compatible switches for reference: Omron Model D2F-01F, D2FC-F-7N (10M), D2FC-F-7N (20M), D2F-F-3-7, D2FC-F-K (50M) Kailh CMI126603D08-5 (20M), CMI126603D09-3 (30M), CMI126601D01 (60M), CMI126601D03(80M) ~ Clicks are satisfying and not particularly louder or softer than I'm used to, a click is a click. The DPI button works great and feels good, side buttons are solid across their width like a balanced spacebar. The bottom profile button is great, I use the green light profile that reacts to clicks since I don't like RGB. Performance is the same across wired and wireless (dongle) for me. I like that it saves on battery by shutting off the mouse when I step away for an extended period of time. A couple clicks and it's active again. Battery life is excellent, I've been running it wireless full time with zero charges for over a week and it's still holding up strong. Included cable is braided and so soft, reminds me of a couch pillow's plush cotton knit. It slides across my large mouse pad and doesn't catch on anything in my cable management. Speaking of, I always hated playing shooters with a wireless mouse but I've noticed no difference playing wired or wireless with this mouse. In my mind, it boils down to excellent shape, texture and ergonomics because I'm not having to counterweight the mouse's cable drag against a poorly designed mouse body to feel centered. I've also seen no discoloration with heavy use despite this being a white/grey colorway. This must be due to the plastic appearing to be a smooth injection-style color (Legos) instead of a low quality spray-on paintjob (Logitech G203). ~ I'll wrap up with a deep dive on the daily experience with this mouse and Arch Linux. This mouse is incompatible with Piper, the software I previously used to manage my Logitech mouse's DPI, shut off the RGB and remap the side buttons into media keys. I knew that going into this (search for libratbag devices list on Github), so I utilize my Keychron Q3 for media key functionality and actually prefer it. I'm limited to managing the features of the Gladius with the built-in hardware buttons and yet I have no regrets. The DPI settings out of the box are perfect for the full range of settings I switch between and one of the onboard profiles has reactionary RGB based on clicks, which is very close to my optimal no-RGB setup. ~ TL;DR Gladius III is my favorite mouse I've ever used out of Corsair, Logitech and now ASUS. No discoloration with heavy use despite being white/grey colorway. Great out of box experience even without software manageability (for Linux), robust profile / DPI selections and the best ergonomics I've ever used as a hybrid claw/palm grip user coming from the G403. Reminds me of my original Corsair Sabre mouse, but improved. I have high hopes for this mouse long-term with the hot-swappable switches. ... show more

  • Almost Perfect
Pattern Name: 19000 DPI Style: Wired Color: Black
I have used the Gladius 2 for several years and wanted to get a 3rd mouse as i have multiple setups. Picked this guy up as it was cheaper and noticed a few things. The 19000 DPI compared to the 12000 DPI of the Gladius 2 is immediately noticeable. The wire is much softer and better for gaming in general as the stiffness of the cables of older mice tend to add more resistance depending on your setup. The mouse is very light. It feels a bit cheap primarily due to the side grips which on the Gladius 2 are rubber but a thin plastic on the Gladius 3 The middle mouse wheel is a bit wider and flat compared to the Gladius 2 which at first i liked until i noticed a bit of a bump going from left click to wheel. the more curved wheel of the Gladius 2 was better and personally prefer the RGB lighting on the 2 here. Both mice are excellent the benefits def outweigh the cons on G3. My perfect mouse would probably be a combination of the two. 19000 DPI + cable of the G3 added to the mouse wheel and rubber sides of the G2 with weight adjustments! Please make it ROG ... show more

  • Bulky but Lightweight
Pattern Name: 36000 DPI Style: Wireless Color: White
Really surprised after looking at the mouse I expected it to be weighty. It is really light ( so much for man-handling mice!) As far as smooth movement I'm on the fence. I noticed that it is having some tracking the mousepad issues. The mousepad I has some bends on the edges and the mouse would suddenly stop tracking, even with the mouse height & angle adjustments. I need more time with this mouse to give a full review but thus far this mouse is not bad. ... show more

  • a mouse with replaceable main button switches....
Pattern Name: 19000 DPI Style: Wired Color: Black
I use one mouse for every computer use from letters to emails to my favorite mmo game. My game world does include combat and macros but certainly nothing like some of the more popular fast paced combat games. I bought this mouse as backup hardware, the fact that the main mouse button switches are easily replaceable makes this not only a regular use product but a good backup; most of the time you rarely get much warning that the switches in your mouse buttons are about to take a dump. I have several mice much more expensive than this one, story is always the same you're going about your business and boom the mouse starts uncontrollable double clicking or refusing to register clicks at all. This mouse comes with one set of the common clicky type switch and omron's optical switches which by their very nature "should" outlast the usual type of switch but connoisseurs might not like how they feel right away. I haven't tried to buy more of them yet but I'm told they run under a dollar for the omron switches, even at several dollars that's a bargain when a new mouse is over 60.00 US. This unit also comes in a wireless version that can be used as cabled if you plug in the included cables, I might end up with one of those in the future. Package includes the mouse, 2 omron optical switches, switch puller tool (tweezers), and a sticker pad of mouse feet for that time in the future when the original ones get messed up. First thing that strikes you when you take it out of the package is how light the mouse is, I usually like a little more weight but it's also a somewhat large mouse...it feels good in the hand and my hands are considered small. Mouse has the normal set of buttons and there is also a button on the wheel and a button on top to change the dpi setting. The mouse cable is what I call "long" at several feet to reach the usb ports on the back of the computer or your usb hub. At first look, I'm not sure about the mouse cable it is apparently the standard rubber wrapped wire with an additional nylon sheath over it to protect it. This makes the cable rather too flexible but I won't really know if that's an issue till I've used it for awhile I prefer the nylon braided cables of my other products that are much "stiffer" cables than this one. Just means I may need one of those mouse cable control products have to see. Like most products of this type you must go to asus web page and download the latest version of their mouse software, there appear to be two different versions one is the full package then there is one only to control the led's on the mouse. You don't have to use the asus software, the mouse has several built in settings for the led's accessed by a button on the bottom of the mouse near the back end. The giant selling point here is replaceable main switches which are usually what quits first in a mouse and should mean long service from this product. They need to come out with a version with two or three more programmable buttons on it and I'll snap that one up too. ... show more
