  • Beautiful and performs well
This is by far the most premium motherboard I have ever owned and it is not necessary for good performance but it looks amazing and has tons of ports

  • Lots of stuff to mess with in Bios
Amazing motherboard. Everything runs smooth. Temps are good. Gaming+streaming and other workloads are extremely stable on ultra settings. No need to waste the second pcie 5 m.2 slot for half the speed also as you can change it to x4 in the bios at the cost of disabling the two the usb 4 ports rather than your gpu bandwidth. I truly could not be happier. Don’t forget to update your bios etc even if this just released this year. Everything booted up great the first time no problem at all with a 9950x3d. I’d also like to add that since it has so many options in Bios, you really have to pay close attention to things. There are options to keep aura sync on shutdown, leave some lights on, or completely turn them all off. Bam. That easy. If you want to enable Expo profile, picking auto sets it to 4800mhz. You have to manually cap it to what your kit is rated for unless your system is not stable then cap it lower till you are. There is seriously ALOT in the bios. Take your time to be to know this motherboard. ... show more

  • Armoury Crate is so dog****
The media could not be loaded. For a motherboard that costs $700, you don't really get what you pay for. ASUS is well known for their ROG Tax, which can be justifiable sometimes due to the amazing quality of some of their products. This isn't an exception. The little screen looking thing on the left isn't a screen, it's just a preset display of a polymo lighting that will probably never receive anymore customization in the future. I knew it wasn't a screen, but I at least thought I could make it look black and white like in the advertised pictures, if you use aura sync to customize it, the white shows up as a purple or blue color like cheap rgb would. The polymo lighting does look sick, but I wish it could actually have true colors and not look like some off brand rgb. Performance wise, everything is actually really great, with an amazing cooling system, and very sleek looks overall. Another thing was, the debug LED: this typically shows the debug codes and stuff like that, but when you boot up your pc and load in, it will show a number which typically is your CPU temperature. For some reason as default it's set to your CPU's GPU temperature instead of the actual CPU's overall temp, which threw me off because I saw around 28-32 degrees Celsius on a CPU temp, and thought wow this is some insane cooling. But I checked my system and my CPU temp was actually in the low 40s. It was revealed that this is actually the CPU's GPU temps..... Lastly, back to the polymo lighting, Armoury Crate (ASUS's software to control rgb) is total dog water. It automatically sets the motherboard to stay on and shine a whole light show when you turn your pc off. I thought it was a bios problem at first, and spent about an hour trying to figure out why my motherboard lights won't shut off during power off. It was actually because in Armoury Crate there's an option that is default set on to keep your lights on when you shut off your PC.. I mean why? I appreciate that it's a feature but why is it default set to on?? Who wants a light show when your trying to sleep and your PC looks like it's having a disco party Overall, it's not a bad motherboard, it's definitely better than most and i'd say even close to Flagship for ASUS. But they don't have a BTF option, the customization is total slop, but the performance is good. It's definitely a handsome high performance motherboard, but the potential is wasted. It could've been perfect for monochrome and minimalist PC builds, but they kind of ruined it by not even being able to do "dark hero" vibes with a true black and white / metal+steel vibe. ... show more

  • Awesome! Avoid Armory Crate
Awesome motherboard. Really great performance. Replaced MSI X870 Tomahawk with this, and I actually get slightly lower temps. With Tomahawk my lowest idle was 37-38C after adding bottom fan scoop/duct to North XL. (42C without). Dark Hero with same setup gets down to 33-34C. You can customize RGB in windows using dynamic lighting features, you just have to enable support under Advanced, On Board, then LED section. You can also use SignalRGB. So you have alternate options over Armory Crate (which is as bad as they say; avoid it). ... show more

  • Finally a clean aggressive all black mobo
Great options and clean esthetics. Multiple M.2 SSD slots for peak storage and massive heat sink block for those hot running gen 5 SSDs. Speaking of cooking, the VRM heat sink is massive giving plenty of potential to overclocking in the future. Plenty of connections for sata power and a slew of aRGB and fan header connections. Asus bios is vast and confusing at first but has a bunch of great options for overclocking and different hardware manipulations. The LCD screen is the biggest flaw with this board. You can only change the color scheme of "ROG". No data or custom backgrounds can be applied *that I know of currently*. Wifi is super fast and all the rear IO ports are awesome for not wanting to use or install more usb hubs/ports. Drivers where all pretty much pre installed and from start to finish the whole process was a joy to work on with such a nice piece of tech. Looks great with my build and more importantly it gives me options in the future to customize pretty much whatever I want and experiment with new settings. ... show more
